Hi Tol! Thanks for cleaning up the article Rheiformes I made. One question I have is whether it makes sense to link Rhea tarapacensis and Rhea pennata when they both redirect to the same article. Do you have any suggestions about how I could improve my articles in the future? Tobirder (talk) 01:58, 1 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, @Tobirder; no problem! Currently, Wikipedia considers R. tarapacensis to be a subspecies of R. pennata, so Rhea tarapacensis redirects to Rhea pennata, but I think that linking them both is helpful because
  1. It's less confusing to a reader who may be seeking further information on R. tarapacensis, and
  2. No changes would have to be made if we later decide that R. tarapacensis is its own species (or just that it should have its own page).
As for suggestions, based on this AfC submission, I would suggest:

Many thanks, @Gerda Arendt! It's hard to believe that it's already been a year... Tol (talk | contribs) @ 04:05, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Tol I am new on Wiki Could you let me know why you declined the page ?

Thank you! Bluenne 37.163.148.253 (talk) 10:26, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The reason I declined it is given in the two grey boxes at the top of the draft. I think the specific issues are primarily:
  • Neutrality — specifically, the claim about "a 99% emission-free import process" could be rewritten to add who claims the process to be 99% emission-free, and by what measure.
  • Notability — notability could be established by adding some more coverage that is in-depth, reliable, secondary, and strictly independent of the subject.

Question from Svx7abu (12:42, 10 December 2022)

[edit]

Hello, this is my first wikipedia page: I am starting a discography page of an artist of whom no complete discography seems to exist. This is my compilation of different sources, which of course will be properly cited. For now just in the sandbox: User:Svx7abu/sandbox. Please let me know if this is fine so far. For example, in case of these very early recordings it makes more sense to follow the matrix numbers, which are unique, while disc numbers are often multiple for the same take (due to re-issues). Also, I am not sure this should be a separate page or part of the artist's main page. Thank you! --Svx7abu (talk) 12:42, 10 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, @Svx7abu, and welcome to Wikipedia! I don't know much about discographies, but it looks good to me. You may want to take a look at some sample discography tables for reference. I would advise you to format it in whichever way you think makes the most sense — you're probably right, and if you're not, it can always be changed later. As for whether it should be its own page, as far as I know, discographies are generally separate pages. Tol (talk | contribs) @ 19:17, 10 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

More moves on the way

[edit]

A couple of upcoming medium-small batches for TolBot 13D, assuming the RMs go well:

Dicklyon (talk) 03:36, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds good, @Dicklyon! Tol (talk | contribs) @ 04:35, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for doing that first batch already! Dicklyon (talk) 20:41, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome! Tol (talk | contribs) @ 22:56, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It turns out I failed to find some needed redirects to fix along with those. I might get on that later; fixing a few manually, like for the See also link I changed at 1958 NCAA University Division baseball tournament. Dicklyon (talk) 22:50, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hm. Sorry; I wouldn't know how to detect things like those without a whole script to check each page for redirects. Tol (talk | contribs) @ 22:59, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I know how to find them with a quarry query. But I think there were few enough that I just stumbled on them and fixed them by hand. Might check more later. Dicklyon (talk) 03:29, 9 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ahh; a Quarry wizard, I see. On a serious note, that looks good to me. Thanks for always taking care of the cleanup. Tol (talk | contribs) @ 04:54, 9 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The second one has closed with consensus to move now, too. This one has the list of redirects to copy, too. Dicklyon (talk) 06:59, 9 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'll take care of the moves. As for copying the redirects, there are only 27, so I'll just run it semi-automated (AWB-style) on my own account (I don't have automatic/generic approval for redirect creation, and I'd prefer not to go through BRFA for just 27). Tol (talk | contribs) @ 13:50, 9 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've got myself moved to Australia and might be able to find time to work on these after you get the moves done. I could do the redirects by hand, but if you have a good way to create them via JWB-like script, that would be awesome. Dicklyon (talk) 20:17, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've found myself rather busy this week, but I should be able to do the moves and redirect creations tomorrow. Tol (talk | contribs) @ 12:15, 14 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Same here. Certainly no rush. Dicklyon (talk) 06:48, 15 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Just getting to these now; sorry. Tol (talk | contribs) @ 02:27, 18 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
 Done. Tol (talk | contribs) @ 03:14, 18 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, mate, it's Sunday afternoon in Sydney and I got my shopping done, so I should have time to get back in the WP editing groove. Dicklyon (talk) 03:43, 18 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks; haha. I hope you're enjoying Australia! Tol (talk | contribs) @ 03:51, 18 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Payrup2022 (12:00, 19 December 2022)

[edit]

Hi Tol, I want to add my organization to the Wikipedia, can you please help me with that and steps for how I can do it without getting any rules broken of Wikipedia --Payrup2022 (talk) 12:00, 19 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, @Payrup2022, and welcome to Wikipedia! Wikipedia has a conflict of interest guideline that "strongly discourage[s]" writing about topics that you have a conflict of interest with, such as your business or employer. However, if you are sure that you want to write about this, and are confident that you can follow Wikipedia's policies and guidelines (especially our neutral point of view policy), then you can follow our article wizard to create a draft. Please let me know if you have any further questions! Tol (talk | contribs) @ 20:41, 19 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Auk lak (00:35, 21 December 2022)

[edit]

Hello, I have problem, I cant remove picture from my page... I made mistake and add two times same picture... --Auk lak (talk) 00:35, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, @Auk lak, and welcome to Wikipedia! I think you're talking about Draft:Vuk Lakićević. I've cleaned this up for you, including removing the duplicate image. It looks like you're using VisualEditor — you can learn about adding images with VisualEditor here. You can read about how to add more items to the infobox that I added here. Please let me know if you have any further questions! Tol (talk | contribs) @ 17:37, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
