Thanks for updating the thickness of the belarus coins 2016. Where did you get the information from?

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited National Police of Ukraine, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page UAH. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

December 2016

[edit]

Information icon Before adding a category to an article, as you did to Kingsman: The Secret Service, please make sure that the subject of the article really belongs in the category that you specified according to Wikipedia's categorization guidelines. Categories must also be supported by the article's verifiable content. Categories may be removed if they are deemed incorrect for the subject matter. I don't recall any significant amount of this movie being set in Russia, sorry. DonIago (talk) 14:03, 28 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Doniago, In the end of the film the head of Kingsmans receives a message with coordinates of safe shelter. These coordinates are on the north of Russia. Another thing that shows that the end of the film is set in Russia is 2K12 Kub missile launcher with the soviet flag on it. --Tohaomg (talk) 14:11, 28 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I don't believe that's significant enough to merit the category, but you're welcome to bring this up at the article's Talk page to see how other editors feel about it. Cheers and Happy Holidays! DonIago (talk) 14:14, 28 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Doniago, Quater of the film is set there, so I think it is significant enough. Also there is a category Category:Films set in Washington, D.C. in spite of Washington, D.C. is showed only in two cuts. Have a happy New Year too!)) --Tohaomg (talk) 14:19, 28 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I replied at the article Talk page. I apologize in advance for the excessive pedantry I engaged in there, though I think it's relevant as well. DonIago (talk) 15:22, 28 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Manual of style errors

[edit]

Tohamog, I would like to thank you for extending the content to Russia–Ukraine relations in the Eurovision Song Contest. However, I wanted to take the opportunity to just point out some slight errors, which you may not be aware of within your contribution.

  1. I'm assuming that English is not your native language, and that was apparent in the grammar, which was not bad, but had a few mistakes, which I have taken the liberty to correct on your behalf.
  2. When adding citations, please make sure they are placed directly after a punctuation mark, and not before.
  3. Unfortunately, we cannot accept this source, as it blog belonging to a user registered to "My Eurovision", which is expressing a personal point of view. This goes against WP:BLOG, WP:NPOV, and WP:OR.
  4. Some of the sources used were not placed in the corresponding citation style. Some were obtained from online newspapers (such as The Telegraph) which should have used {{Cite news}}; whilst others from ESCToday require {{Cite web}}.
  5. And finally, some of the citation styles were incorrectly done, and did not include authors (which it is mandatory that we contribute sources to the people who published them). May I recommend taking some time to read Help:Referencing for beginners, Help:Citations quick reference, and the documentation of {{Cite web}}; on how to complete the citation parameters to fulfil the templates full nature.

Apart from those minor errors, the rest of the content is excellent. Keep up the great work! Wes Mouse Talk 20:14, 24 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Stay With Us

[edit]

@Tohaomg: I've seen a discussion that you had with a fellow contributor I know on his talk page. They were right to make the reverts they did, but this doesn't mean that your contributions aren't appreciated. Wikipedia requires collaboration from the experienced and inexperienced alike, and all vereran editors were once new. Please keep editing and treat this as a learning experience. With any luck, you'll learn the English lingo soon enough. If you have any questions or queries, I'm more than happy to help you out. Keep on editing and learning from your mistakes. --Tuxipedia (talk) 01:46, 27 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you!

[edit]
The Resilient Barnstar
Not sure if you've ever had a barnstar before, but I think this one is quite apt at this present time. We will often encounter periods of mistakes, and hopefully learn from them too. So with this in mind, I award you the Barnstar of Resilience. Keep up the good work, and do not hesitate to seek advice on any matters that you do not understand fully. Wes Mouse Talk 01:54, 27 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
actually, I already have one in ukrainian wikipedia, but thank you a lot! --Tohaomg (talk) 01:56, 27 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Citation overkill

[edit]

I've just seen this edit in which a second citation was added by yourself. I've not reverted the edit, due to the discussion we had the other day. But I did want to point out that the second citation comes under WP:OVERCITE, as it duplicating the content from the first citation which I added. Its up to you if you want to revert your own action. Also, another helpful tip to remember, when using foreign language citations, always remember to use the |trans_title= parameter which must be used when {{cite web}} contains a foreign language source. Just another piece off the crazy giant Wikipedia iceberg for your reference. Slowly but surely, we will have that iceberg melted away and your knowledge on policies flawless. Whenever I come across a policy tips from other users, I list them on my userpage as a quick help guide. You are very welcome to add User:Wesley Mouse/Templates to your user page if it helps you to understand English Wikipedia and remove that giant iceberg. Another good tool guide to have is {{Wikipedia policies and guidelines}}. Happy editing" Wes Mouse Talk 17:46, 29 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the tips, but I think that was a very strong statement I have cited and there should be a reference to the primary source so that readers can make sure it is really so and esctoday did not misunderstand anything. --Tohaomg (talk) 10:16, 30 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

TohaomgBot performing unauthorized task

[edit]

Why was TohaomgBot used to add {{Metro system of the World}} to dozens of articles? This was not an approved task of the bot, nor did you ask Wikiproject Trains whether it was a good idea to add such a template to that many articles. I request that you revert the bot and seek consensus before adding the template. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 19:35, 3 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I strongly second that. The template is problematic to say the least (e.g. WP:FLAGCRUFT, poor grammar in the title, etc.) and from what I can tell, there was ZERO discussion about creating and mass adding it anywhere regular editors of the affected pages would see it. The changes should be reverted posthaste. —Joeyconnick (talk) 20:13, 3 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination for deletion of Template:Current US population

[edit]

Template:Current US population has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the entry on the Templates for discussion page. User:GKFXtalk 19:51, 10 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article List of the busiest airports in the European Union has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

mostly duplicates List of the busiest airports in Europe, does not present sources covering this topic area as a whole (WP:SYNTH)

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Templates

[edit]

Hello, I have once again undone your changes to the Ukrainian rank templates per WP:BRD. Please no not changes this again without WP:consensus. The Ukrainian rank template follow the standard layout as used for ALL rank templates. Skjoldbro (talk) 10:14, 26 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, @Skjoldbro:. All ranks are titled twice: in Ukrainian and in latinized Ukrainian. And guess what: the majority of English Wikipedia readers do not understand Ukrainian. And if they want to know what each of those ranks mean, they either have to open each linked page or to translate the page in Google Translate or somewhere (which is odd, given that this is English Wikipedia after all), which is even harder if a reader is browsing from a smartphone. If you say that there was some consensus to do it exactly your way, please, provide a link to it. --TohaomgTohaomg (talk) 10:22, 26 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Please see any other rank template i.e. Comparative army officer ranks of Africa. There more than 1500 templates which use this layout, as such consensus has been reached through editing. English is only shown when it is an official language. English translations also have numerus issues. First: adding translations clutter the templates, some have 2 official languages or transliterations. Second: UK, US, literal or official translations? UK/US have different rank structures and this will also affect any official translation. Depending on the country, some ranks will have 3 different translations depending on the branch, which would only confuse readers. Following literal would not help in many cases either, i.e. the Arabic rank of Muqaddam means assistant. If you have a suggestion to ensure constancy between all 1500 templates, while staying accurate, I'm more than willing to hear it. Skjoldbro (talk) 10:52, 26 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
A discussion is taking place as to whether the article List of the busiest airports in the European Union is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of the busiest airports in the European Union until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article until the discussion has finished.
