My Questions to You

[edit]

Have You Visited the TeaHouse?

The TeaHouse is a community center where people, just like you and I, can ask questions to better understand understand Wikipedia. You can get to the TeaHouse by going to your "Interactions", located on the left side of your screen, and clicking the community portal link. From there, you will see seven different places on this website that you can choose from, the Help Desk, Reference Desk, Village Pump, Peer Editing, Wiki Projects, Barnstars, and the Dispute Resolution. You will want to select the Peer Editing option, but real free to check out the other options too.

Have You Considered Becoming a Host?

When at the TeaHouse, there is an option, for experienced editors, to become a host. This means that you can answer questions that others ask in the TeaHouse, along with multiple other abilities, exclusive to hosts. Check it out.

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Minecraft Pocket Edition, appears to have been inappropriate, and has been reverted. Please feel free to use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you. - You can't redirect a page to itself - David Biddulph (talk) 17:40, 11 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Template:LALALAL, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Welcome

[edit]

Your background will make you extremely valuable. I provided a link to the generic Community_portal page, which does have some useful suggestions. Given you background, you might find fixing spelling and grammar below you, but all of us work in the trenches on occasion. You might be interested in Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors. You mentioned decision making, which is a useful skill. You will want some more experience before tackling block reviews, as it takes a bit of knowledge of policies, many of which are obvious, but some of which are not. I just turned down a request to get more involved in block reviews here partly because I'm busy, partly because I don't think it fits my strengths. But it does point out there is a need. If it fits your interests, you will be very welcome, although again, I'd urge involvement in other areas first.--S Philbrick(Talk) 20:17, 11 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Can I create my own WikiProject?

In principle, yes, but you need to make sure that there enough other people interested that it becomes a workable community and is not just you talking to yourself. Start by reading the Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Guide, that will tell you a lot about what is involved. JohnCD (talk) 23:11, 11 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Could i be adopted by an admin? I would love to become one, one day.

I don't adopt as such, but you're always (OK, mostly...) welcome to keep a watch on my talk page and other doings. Other people do, anyway. I'm not saying I'm a good example, but they haven't thrown me out yet. I'm not guaranteeing to be able to answer every question, but there's usually someone around who can. Probably better than me. If you find a better deal, take it... Peridon (talk) 15:39, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Lesson 1: take notice of bots. Do what SineBot says and sign talk page posts. Makes everyone's life easier. Including that of the bot... Peridon (talk) 15:41, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Today's Xtra. I read the above section and I wanted to clarify a few things in this section on your talk page here. You do not need to be a host to answer questions at the Teahouse; anybody is welcome to answer questions. Hosts are primarily the ones answering though, because they are more actively watching the Q&A page. Being host does not allow you access any special permissions (or abilities) either. It just means you have some, nontrivial amount of experience with Wikipedia and are willing to respond to questions from new editors. As a side note, there are plenty of useful and helpful activities that can improve Wikipedia and do not require any permissions here. Most things I do here don't actually require any permissions. Hello Today's Xtra. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "Minecraft Pocket Edition".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Minecraft Pocket Edition}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, click "Save page", and an administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. JMHamo (talk) 13:18, 5 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
