Thanks for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

You can sign your name on talk pages and votes by typing ~~~~; our software automatically converts it to your username and the date, like mine at the end of this message.

If you have any questions or problems, no matter what they are, leave me a message on my talk page. Or, go to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

Thanks for stopping by, don't forget to tell us a bit about yourself on your userpage. I hope you enjoy editing here and being part of Wikipedia.  Keithology  "Talk"  16:42, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Signing your edits

[edit]

Did you know that you can sign your edits by clicking the scribble symbol on the tool bar (next to the W with a red 'do not' traffic sign over it). Also, it is conventional to put your signature at the end of your post, not the beginning of it.

and if you want to reply to someone, use a colon symbol to indent.
or two if it is a reply to a reply.

Hi, on Talk:Irish general election, 1918, are you User:81.158.160.205? It seems from your double signature you might be - in which case, replacing the old (81.158.160.205) signature with your user account signature is fine, and clearer. cheers, Rd232 talk 11:30, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you DO choose to replace the signature, leave the original date intact. Delete the IP address and contrib link, and replace it with three (not four) tildes- this will only post your username, not the timestamp. --King Öomie 20:25, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
