Wikipedia Drama: Part One

[edit]

Here's a summary of the Wikipedia thread:

  • Bull-Doser, the blocked user, requests to be unbanned on October 28, 2012. He promises not to do original research and to properly source any edits.
  • Other editors point out that Bull-Doser has made similar promises before but continued disruptive editing. They do not believe his promises are credible.
  • Bull-Doser asks if he should create a new account. Editors advise against this, as it would be considered block evasion.
  • On October 30, an editor asks Bull-Doser to explain what original research is and how he will avoid it in the future. Bull-Doser does not directly respond to this request.
  • On November 4, Bull-Doser requests unblock again, saying he is ready to return and will not do original research. Editors point out he still has not addressed concerns and block evasion.
  • It is found that Bull-Doser was editing using an IP address to evade the block. Editors warn him that this harms his chances of being unblocked and that all accounts/IPs he uses will be blocked.
  • Some editors suggest that other editors who have frequently interacted with Bull-Doser should disengage from this discussion to allow uninvolved editors to handle the situation.
  • Bull-Doser then makes a large number of unblock requests over the following year to be unblocked, to no avail.
