Hi,

Please see Template talk:Infobox Company#Merge. This template is now redundant, as all of its fields have been incorporated into {{infobox Company}}. If you can see any issues with the code please raise them on that talk page. Can you redirect the template again, please? Chris Cunningham (not at work) - talk 16:16, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It hasn't been done properly - I will raise them on the talk page but have a look at the vertical list that we are supposed to copy and you will see that Fate etc is not included. If you can sort it out we can redirect otherwise all articles that use the old template are compromised. Thanks Thruxton (talk) 16:21, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Erm... that's the documentation, not the template. If you can confirm that this actually impacts articles then yes, we should certainly fix that; but it look::s like all that's needed is to update Template:Infobox Company/doc. Chris Cunningham (not at work) - talk 16:24, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
...so it doesen't matter if the documentation is wrong or that dozens of articles have Redirect at the top instead of the infobox? Not impressed. It has taken a while but I've amended all the articles I am aware of, although there are loads more. The only way I can prove you've caused a problem is to put the Decunct Company back to your redirect and suggest you look at Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:Infobox_Defunct_company ? Thruxton (talk) 16:36, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
There does indeed seem to be a problem with the redirect; I suggest that you save your energy (and sanity!) and do not change individual articles, but wait for the redirect to be fixed (or a bot replacement of all references to the redirected template). Andy Mabbett (User:Pigsonthewing); Andy's talk; Andy's edits 16:37, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've fixed these. The problem was double redirects on {{infobox defunct company}} and {{infobox Defunct Company}}. Chris Cunningham (not at work) - talk 16:43, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Chris. It would have helped if the proposed merge had been discussed on the talk page of the Template Infobox Defunct Company rather than just the destination of the merge and if someone had checked the articles that use it? Please will you have a look at the documentation of the Template Infobox Company when you have a moment as it still doesn't include reference to the merged defunct company items (which I use regularly) Thruxton (talk) 07:37, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
User:Retro00064 has indicated a willingness to update the documentation, but I'll do it myself as need be. Sorry for the lack of notice, but I didn't see this as a controversial merge - just one requiring a bit of elbow grease. The failue to fix the double redirects was my fault too, so sorry about that. If you've ever got any questions then please feel free to drop me a note. Chris Cunningham (not at work) - talk 12:00, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No worries - I would appreciate you advice with a problem I have on :Category:British motorcycle pioneers as two of the names (Henry Herbert Collier and James Lansdowne Norton are not in the right alphabetical order but I can work out how to correct it. Thanks Thruxton (talk) 12:29, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Give them default sort keys. I've done Henry Herbert Collier for you to show how it's done. Chris Cunningham (not at work) - talk 13:02, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks sorted Norton now Thruxton (talk) 13:12, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for nominating the article Bruce Thruxton (talk) 12:51, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I saw that you turned this into a redirect to ABC motorcycles but even though your edit summary says it was a merge and redirect but I don't see that the merge was done. Are you going to do it, did you forget or what? Cheers ww2censor (talk) 01:34, 20 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi no I started a rewrite of this on 15 August and quickly realised that even though it was short it was confusing and unreferenced, so I copied it all across to my sandbox and did a complete rewrite. I now have a lot more material on ABC to add to ABC motorcycles but thought I'd give it three months for anyone to respond. Last night I reviewed it again. No comments but couldn't see anything else worth moving across that I don't have good references for. If you want to revert and have a go please do - I just want to end up with a correct and well referenced article so any help is welocme. By the way, do you know how we show that an article has been checked as correct by someone with the authority to do so? I've had a few articles checked and referred to this on the talk page but wondered if there is a better way. Thanks Thruxton (talk) 05:52, 20 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cyril Pullin

[edit]

I'm not sure why you posted about this article to me, but if you are asking me if you have expanded it enough to qualify for DYK, the answer is yes. Gatoclass (talk) 12:42, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes - but I thought I'd get a second opinion from someone who knows about these things as I'm still learning. Also just found out he was the first British motorcyclist to be timed at over 100mph. Thanks Thruxton (talk) 12:49, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, good luck with it. I've enjoyed some of your previous motorcycle articles as well :) Gatoclass (talk) 13:24, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
