I hereby correct this wiki for three errors.

1) The numbers of individual party votes for the senate do not match the numbers on the Belgian governmental website for which a linkout is provided. This website can be viewed in EN/FR/DU/GE according to choice. The percentage scores of the respective political parties are however taken from this website and completely correct other than for the votes classified as ‘Other’, which deviates both in number and ratio. The faulty numeric score of the political parties is completely identical to the Dutch wiki (which is however not accessible through the language menu bar), other than for the votes classified as ‘Other’. I have recalculated and correctly rounded the percentage scores based on the numeric vote score displayed on the Belgian government website and found no deviation from the percentages displayed on this website. I therefore substitute with the correct data.

2) All data in the table listing the parliamentary election results are faultlessly copied from the website for which a linkout (identical to the one previously mentioned) is provided. Unfortunately here I detected a bizarre discrepancy in two of the displayed percentage scores with the factual ratios. It seems that both the PS and CDH saw a 1x10^-4 total vote increment of their correctly rounded score. This could not have been due to the use of temporary results as the internal correlations (as to the total vote fraction of all the individual parties) would not be preserved in this eventuality. For the same reason a(n automated) spreadsheet error cannot account for this phenomenon. The single feasible explanation is a manual alteration of the final data.

Please note that it may be preferable to inexactly round some percentages for tables on webpages as to not confuse the reader with a total percentage deviating from 100% exactly. This does not apply to this wiki as the 100% total is displayed with a reduction of two significant figures, nor does it concern the website in the linkout, were no total percentage is displayed. It cannot be so that such a reduction was used by the Belgian government for use in other statistics (with the inexactly rounded percentages maintained on this website) either. In this scenario the net percentage summation should have been 100.00% and not 100.03% after correction of the (100,01%) percentage sum of individual scores, whilst the CDH score is not closest to ‘x.xx49 - x.xx50’ either. Therefore the incorrect rounding was deliberate and hence presumed serving a purpose (which as yet eludes me).

3) The total voting turnout is incorrectly referring to the number of total valid votes. If you wish to define this number divided by the eligible people as the turnout the percentage needs to be recalculated, as it currently refers to the total deposited votes divided by the registered people. I add the turnout percentage in the body of the text as the number of registered people and the number of votes deposited are quoted neither for the (simultaneous) senate nor parliament election (the turnout percentage is identical to four significant figures). “The voter turnout was 89, 22% for both parliamentary and senate elections and detailed scores are displayed in the tables below.” Corrected for mathematically accurate rounding (percentage change compared to previous elections is left unaltered).

I correct this wiki without previously seeking debate as such is not instrumental to the mathematically sound, canonical appliance of elementary calculus. The preferability of such feat may be assumed in an encyclopedic volume. Thank you for finding my notepad.exe output of the parliament calculations below signature. (Please note I did not recalculate nor alter percentage differences as opposed to previous elections. Likewise I did not alter the [cumbersome] calculated seat scores. I did not change the Dutch wiki either.)

Kind regards,

Thomas Delbeke
