Welcome message

Hi there. Welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like it here and stick around. If you like, you can leave a note at Wikipedia:New user log to introduce yourself.

Before you start doing a lot of editing, you might want to take the Tutorial. It gives a lot of basic information to help you to get oriented on Wikipedia.

You can sign your name on talk pages by using four tildes (" ~~~~ ") for your username and a timestamp. If you have any other questions about the project, then check out Wikipedia:Help or add a question to the Help desk. You can also drop me a question on my talk page.

Happy editing! TheMadBaron 23:58, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much for your friendly welcome :). I have read the tutorial and found it very useful. I appreciate your hints on getting help, I might need it :). Yuser31415 00:46, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You're very welcome.

This may be a newbie question but how is it possible to add a template to a page?

TIA :) Yuser31415 04:26, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

Please don't worry about asking newbie questions. Whether I'll actually be able to help or not is another matter, but I know that there are various levels of complexity to Wikipedia, and if you want to get the most out of it, you will find yourself on a fairly steep learning curve.
I'm not sure if you mean an existing template, which is easy (edit a page which already has it, copy the code, paste where required) or that you want to make a template from scratch, which isn't something I've ever got round to doing, but the instructions are at Wikipedia:Template namespace. If you want further help, can you specify what kind of template you want to add?
HTH
TheMadBaron 06:59, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Never mind, I just took a look at your contributions, and I think I see your problem. You must include (forgive the technical terminology here) squiggly brackets with the template code. Try this.
{{Template:Sign1}}
If you edit this page now, you'll see the code I've used to stop this from working here, without which, the code with the squiggly brackets produces....

Please sign your name using four tildes (~~~~) when making your posts on talk pages.

Cool. I'm gonna start using that template....
TheMadBaron 07:07, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your help, it is very much appreciated :). If I need any help I'll know who to ask.
Yuser31415 07:31, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Again, you're very welcome. One thing though... please leave messages for me on my talk page, because I won't otherwise have a reason to come back here to check for them. Cheers. TheMadBaron 08:04, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I swear these stupid political ads are raising my blood pressure. I shouldn't of used profane language. --69.67.234.235 05:34, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your warning on my talk page

[edit]

I simply replaced the sandbox header on the sandbox. And if I had added nonsense, isn`t that what the sandbox is for? Were you using some kind of bot to detect vandalism? 24.20.69.240 07:52, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sandbox

[edit]

Sorry for the confusion. BTW, I didn`t copy the article page to the sandbox- it was already there. I just re- added the sandbox header box that had been removed before. I guess I should have removed the pasted article too. I was just really confused by your first message, esspecilly the part of about doing tests in the sandbox instead( where I was)Sorry for the confusion24.20.69.240 20:07, 7 November 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Permission to use a message

[edit]

Hi,

Thanks for your note. You're very welcome to use my welcome message.... which is just a variation of somebody elses.... you don't really need anyone's permission.

If you're going to be welcoming new users, I hope that you will consider joining the Welcoming committee.

I expect that you've found the Recent changes page, which is the best place to find noobs (and vandals, for that matter). With your interest in programming, you might also be able to help out on the Computing Reference desk.

Have fun!

TheMadBaron 09:48, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You are mistaken

[edit]

I only reverted the page, but I didn't add any profanity to it. Please remove your warning from my talk page. I actually placed ******** instead of leaving the "F" word that was lefted there. I didn't happen to see any other curse words, though. I'll check for any from before, yet please reconsider what you sent to me. Power level (Dragon Ball) 19:45, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

May you please respond? Power level (Dragon Ball) 20:06, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I was just reverting to a past page I liked, and I didn't mean to have explicit content on there. That's why I added ********* to blank the bad words I've seen. I'm sorry, but it was an accident. Can you please (I'm begging of you) as so as to remove that warning. I don't say curse words, since I despise of it. Thanks. Power level (Dragon Ball) 21:30, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much

[edit]

I appreciate it a lot and thanks for understanding. Power level (Dragon Ball) 23:14, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, man

[edit]

Thanks for the shout out, Wiki homie! If you could get me a video game list, I'd really like that!!!

NapalmRiot 0:35, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Alright!

[edit]

Hey, uh... If you could do that, I could be editing like my friend Mace! (Yeah... that's Masonprof alright... we go to school to together.)

Thanks for reverting the vandal. It's greatly appreciated. Cheers, Moreschi 14:37, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why am I uncival?

[edit]

Just because I told Someguy to get the hell out of my page? Power level (Dragon Ball) 20:34, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I guess...

[edit]

Sorry, it's just that he's annoying sometimes. Would you consider removing your warning or no? I removed (changed) my comment to sound more civilized. I promise to not do it ever again... Power level (Dragon Ball) 20:44, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Matter?

[edit]

Say what I think? I think that life is far too short for me to be getting involved in other people's brawls unless they're funny.... but if that's what rocks your boat, you go right ahead. I'm building an encyclopedia.

If you really want me to call it, then I'd have to say no, I see no reason why you should remove what has apparently been acknowledged as a valid warning, unless you're inclined to do so.

TheMadBaron 22:17, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bullying

[edit]

I don't think I was bullying him. Like I said, I just get pissed off sometimes when people act like they know everything. I really didn't mean to hurt his feelings or anything. If you want, I could go over to User:Someguy0830 and apologize, if that makes you feel any better about reconsidering the warning. Okay? Now I won't talk anymore until the other 2/3 Wikipedians give their answer. Again, thanks. Power level (Dragon Ball) 23:34, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't care if you apologize, just stop trying to hide every negative thing that comes your way and start paying more attention to what you do. That whole no source template affair is just one of many events you've involved yourself in unnecessarily. – Someguy0830 (T | C) 23:45, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Why not ...
  • I remove the warning from Power level's page; and
  • You two forgive each other and act in a civil way; and
  • We all get on with our missions, helping this to become the #1 encyclopedia.
What about it? Yuser31415 talk|contribs 00:01, 11 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That's fine by me. – Someguy0830 (T | C) 01:05, 11 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes!!!

[edit]

I just sent a message to Someguy0830 saying that we should be partners. He might help me gain knowledge of everything about our encyclopedia and I might help turn his heart from rock to light. By all means! I'll do just about anything to have those terrible warnings removed, and gain fellow Wikipedian friendship. Let's do it! smile Power level (Dragon Ball) 00:12, 11 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Need help

[edit]

I've asked an administrator (Kusma, I think who didn't take part in it) to help me move Shane (disambiguation) and merge it's history to just Shane, which I'm protected from doing. Shane redirects to a disambiguation page, can you have that title fixed to just "Shane"? Power level (Dragon Ball) 00:37, 11 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Move

[edit]

Hi. Can you help me move "Bardock (Dragon Ball)" to just "Bardock". No need for the parenthesis there. A Wikipedian named Chibi Gohan screwed up the page name by changing it to an alternate name, "Burdock", and that created various double and triple redirects which I had some trouble fixin', but I got it down pat. So can you help me by moving it since I'm protected from doing so? Thanks. // Power level (Dragon Ball) // 15:54, 13 November 2006 (UTC) [reply]

Persondata in Albert Einstein

[edit]

Hi, in this edit, you removed the Persondata table in Albert Einstein, arguing that it was duplicate with other information in the article. This is an error; Persondata is not visible to editors who haven't chosen explicitely to display it, and it is meant for automated (e.g. bot) parsing of the article. As such, it has to follow a strict format, something that does not happen with infoboxes, thus justifying the "duplication" of information. I have readded the template; see Wikipedia:Persondata for more information. Schutz 08:06, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your editor is replacing characters

[edit]

Hi Yuser31415. For some reason, your edits here, and here, replaced the hyphen character with this character. Not sure why this would happen? The substituted character appears as garbage in both Firefox and IE. I have reverted your edits for now. Perhaps you want to take a look at your editor and why it is doing this? Thanks! --KeithB 20:55, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Glad I could help. I actually went back and redid your edit to Iris (plant), just so you know. --KeithB 21:55, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey.

[edit]

Thanks for checking up! It's going slow, because the school computers have screens, but I'm gettin there... more soon.
