November 2020

Information icon Hello, I'm Firestar464. I noticed that you recently removed content from Tom Trusky without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Quotations need citations

[edit]

Hello. I was wondering if you could please go back to Victoria Woodhull and add citations for the quotations you added? Quotations need to always have a citation immediately following, and long quotations (40 words or more) should have a block quote template. I've done some to get you started. Thanks.— Diannaa (talk) 15:16, 22 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Dianna—I’ve decided to stop editing because someone mansplain-messaged that I’ve been engaged in “disruptive editing” when really I just hadn’t learned formatting yet. The quotes are from The Humanitarian, indexed here: http://iapsop.com/archive/materials/humanitarian/. Thank you for the work that you do, and don’t let the bro editors get you down. Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add unsourced or poorly sourced content, as you did at Big Love, you may be blocked from editing. Binksternet (talk) 09:01, 6 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! Thisspreadingwide (talk) 04:06, 7 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You can go ahead and delete my account. It’s not willful “disruption”—I’m just working 60 hours per week and don’t have time to gain formatting expertise as re: sourcing/formatting. I apologize if I’ve made work for others! :(  :( Thank you for the work you do, and have a good day. Thisspreadingwide (talk) 04:10, 7 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please see WP:OWNFEET. Thanks. Firestar464 (talk) 06:46, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Victoria Woodhull and eugenics

[edit]

You are putting far too much emphasis on eugenics at that biography. The first clue was that you added a paragraph to the lead section based only on Woodhull's pamphlet, which is a primary source. Wikipedia should be built on WP:SECONDARY sources that provide analysis; Wikipedia is not looking for editors to provide their own analysis of primary sources. See WP:No original research. Also, the lead section should be a summary of the article body, not introduce new facts.

I rolled the article back to February to restore its condition prior to your changes. Please discuss your proposed changes at Talk:Victoria Woodhull, citing reliable secondary sources in each case. Thank you. Binksternet (talk) 03:31, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You’ve returned the page to a white supremacist version of her life. Restore the eugenics material, and let other editors review it. Thisspreadingwide (talk) 04:00, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Included in your deletion were many secondary sources. And to leave up primary source quotes that are favorable towards a subject and delete all of those that are not—no. The bias is horrendous. Restore the material, and let others hash it out if you question my judgement. And fwiw, quoting someone’s widely available words is not “research.” Thisspreadingwide (talk) 04:10, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This is what happens when a site is overwhelmingly edited by fat balding white men. Thisspreadingwide (talk) 05:24, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]
Hello! Voting in the 2021 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 6 December 2021. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
