Russell Reed Benedict

[edit]

Hi Turtle,

From what little I have been able to find, along with the information in your article, it appears likely that Russell Reed Benedict was a notable person. I did a bit of work editing your article and adding some suggested categories (you can change these to whatever you think works), but I couldn't find much on the internet to help you with sources. I added an external link to a site about him but it would not be considered a reliable, independent source by Wikipedia. There are two newspaper articles in the Santa Fe New Mexican from 1954 at http://newspaperarchive.com/santa-fe-new-mexican/1954-07-18/ and http://newspaperarchive.com/santa-fe-new-mexican/1954-04-15/page-5/that refer to him but that's a pay per view site - maybe you can locate news articles somewhere else.

As it stands, the only two references you cite in your article are a political magazine that makes no reference to him at all - only to Packard - and his wife's obituary. These won't be sufficient to get the article accepted because they don't support much of the information contained in your article. All the information about him should be supported by reference to an independent, reliable source. I encourage you to try to find good sources for the article and add them. If your article is rejected again in the meantime, please continue to work on it and resubmit it for review. If I can be of any further assistance, please contact me on my talk page. Best Regards, --Snowysusan (talk) 08:40, 8 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have been working on this. I've been in touch with one granddaughter and one actual daughter... she has provided links to family photographs, and family stories dating back to the mid-1940s about Russ and his first wife's involvement with the World Federalist Movement, including participation in the 1947 conference in Asheville, North Carolina. Russ talked about this when I knew him in the 1980s... he was very proud to consider himself a "citizen of the world."

As it turns out, Russ' younger brother, Stephen Benedict, is still alive and was a major player in the Theatre Development Fund, the people who created the "TKTS" kiosk in Times Square! I couldn't be more proud. I'm trying to make arrangements to interview him, although Russ' daughter, Barbara, has advised that Stephen doesn't like to talk about his late brother.

FWIW, Campaigns & Elections never bothered to respond to several inquiries about access to their archives. Hhhhhh....

Unfortunately personal interviews or private research are not welcome on Wikipedia. Sources need to be published and publicly available. By all means interview the family if you want to, but don't publish your findings here. Sionk (talk) 19:43, 16 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Aladdin's Castle

[edit]

The article Aladdin's Castle has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No indication of how this might meet notability guidelines. Lacks citations to significant coverage in reliable sources. Only reference is to a primary source.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
