Notification of automated file description generation
Your upload of File:TheoBotTestImage.jpg or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.
This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks! Question
Theopolisme, I'm not sure if I'm doing this correctly, but here goes. On October 11, 2012, you undid an addition I made to NFL's Greatest Games, deeming it didn't appear constructive. I'm not a wiki guru, so I'm not sure I made my edit correctly. However, the game that I inserted into the list was valid as I had watched it on NFL Network that same day with the same title and it was listed as being with that series. Searching the internet, I was not able to find any source to reference on it, though. I did find other blog-type pieces of other people watching/referencing the same episode (provided below). I would ask that you undo your deletion. If there is something that needs to be done, perhaps you could help me. Thank you.
75.64.60.2 (talk) 16:56, 18 July 2013 (UTC)Dave
- Hi 75.64.60.2! If this was the edit you were talking about, the reason I reverted your addition was because in addition to adding new information, you also removed existing content from the page without an explanation. Hope the helps, Theopolisme (talk) 17:23, 18 July 2013 (UTC)
STILL pretty much lost...
I had started a dialogue, you responded, but then nothing.
I'm not complaining, just trying for perhaps the last time to engage this process.TomGulley (talk) 17:13, 18 July 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Tom! Really sorry that somehow our discussion went under my radar. I'll write a full reply momentarily. Theopolisme (talk) 17:24, 18 July 2013 (UTC)
- So, here's the thing. You said, "notable sources are somewhat non-existent" -- that's a problem. One of the principles of WIkipedia is "An organization is generally considered notable if it has been the subject of significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources. Trivial or incidental coverage of a subject by secondary sources is not sufficient to establish notability. All content must be verifiable. If no independent, third-party, reliable sources can be found on a topic, then Wikipedia should not have an article on it." (from Wikipedia:NCORP). With this in mind, and having done some searching on the company, I'm afraid it's probably not notable enough for its own article. Rovi Corporation did manage to satisfy the notability requirements, as you can see here, due to it being covered in a variety of sources -- however, until the same happens for FYI Television, a Wikipedia article doesn't seem to be in store. Please get back to me if you ever have any more questions, Theopolisme (talk) 17:44, 18 July 2013 (UTC)
Adminship Requests? (from LogoSubcheck)
Listen, I have made a near-thousand edits, have made less mistakes than you have, and can code a "Theo's Little Bot" in four hours flat. I am ready to take the responsibility as an admin. (btw, my grandparents live in Memphis.)
- @LogoSubcheck: Please remember to sign your posts using four tildes (~~~~). The fact that you didn't do that only makes me warier of your ability to become an administrator. I don't call 116 a "near-thousand," but of course your mileage may vary. Also, there is no need for derogatory statements like less mistakes than you have. Thanks, Theopolisme (talk) 18:44, 18 July 2013 (UTC)
I don't see you as admin, either. Just because I don't add "... and happy editing!" at the end of my comments, or go on with the "four tildes" does not prove anything in concern of being in the state of an amateur on Wikipedia.LogoSubcheck (talk)

- (talk page stalker)The bot is meant to reduce image quality; non-free images such as File:PeoplemoverPoster.jpg should not have a higher resolution than necessary. WP:NFC says than most images can do with about 100,000 pixels in total, and that's what the bot aims for. In fact users twice deliberately summoned the bot to have it perform this task. In June, your bot added a template about a missing file description on the talk page of banned user Soprani; a sockpuppet of User:Daddy Kindsoul who's page I had already redirected in May 2012. A few days ago, I made a good faith revert and nicely explained why it wouldn't be feasible to add that in the edit summary but the bot added it again so I had to rollback it. Is it possible that you or someone can make it so the bot won't edit that user talk page again? The user is banned and you can't see the edit anyway unless you look at the differences in the history. Sorry I didn't report this at Github but I didn't feel comfortable getting an account on there. --Thebirdlover (talk) 00:37, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
- Thebirdlover, hi! Thanks for letting me know (and don't worry about not reporting at GitHub—it all gets to the same person eventually :) ). I've added

Speedy deletion declined: The Badenvilles
Hello Theopolisme. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of The Badenvilles, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Having members who are notable indicates importance/significance. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 04:33, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
- @Malik Shabazz: Could you please clarify which members are notable? Just because somehow has the same name as an Australian poet doesn't make them notable, y'know. (If I missed something obvious, of course please tell me.) Theopolisme (talk) 04:37, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
- Hi. I think the poet is the band member; see Talk:The Badenvilles. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 04:39, 28 July 2013 (UTC)

re World Cerebral Palsy Day
Hi Theopolisme It seems that the above article was removed mainly on the basis of copyright issues. I had previously replied to you re the Notability and Verifiability issues you raised. I have been able to find an email from Starling which supports my contention that I have the copyright: it is copied in below.
I need your advice on whether this can be used to resolve any conflict. I am a volunteer for a NGO involved in broadly publicizing this event which is why the information was sent to Starling and many other online calendars. However I do not wish to spend much more time on this.
Thanks and regards Phil.

DATE: Wednesday 2 October 2013 (first Wednesday in October each year) DESCRIPTION: World Cerebral Palsy Day is a global innovation campaign to change the world for 17 million people with cerebral palsy (CP). From July to the end of October, people with CP post an idea for something that would change their lives for the better. Three ideas are shortlisted, and inventors and researchers are challenged to create a prototype and compete for a prize pool of $US 50,000. World Cerebral Palsy Day is the initiative of a global group of non-profit cerebral palsy services. In 2013, the project is sponsored by The Allergan Foundation. - Hi Pjbratel, thanks for messaging me. In response to "I am a volunteer for a NGO involved in broadly publicizing this event which is why the information was sent to Starling and many other online calendars": this is in and of itself a problem, and I strongly suggest that you read WP:COI. I'm afraid that just being listed on a website doesn't satisfy the notability requirement. My advice to you: if the event is notable—and by that I mean "has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject"—then an article will follow. This article may not be written by you or by someone associated with the event, but that's okay. Until then, I wish you the best of luck with the event. Trust me, Wikipedia isn't the be all and end all for PR. Special:Random will verify that...just because something's on Wikipedia doesn't broadcast it to the world, and vice versa. Thanks, Theopolisme (talk) 06:10, 29 July 2013 (UTC)

Template:Rotten Tomatoes score
Would it be possible to combine the all_in_one and concensus options? The Problem is that when you use both separately, the citation only appears after the all_in_one template. Perhaps they can be combined in the following manner:
The review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes reported a 78% approval rating with an average rating of 7.0/10, based on 263 reviews. The website's consensus reads; "Ted's 'romance versus bromance' plot is familiar, but the film's held aloft by the high-concept central premise and a very funny (albeit inconsistent) script."[1]
Thanks.--TriiipleThreat (talk) 13:56, 1 August 2013 (UTC)
- @TriiipleThreat: That's a great point; do you think it'd be better to have a completely new "all_in_one_and_consensus" parameter that looks like your example, or to merge the "consensus" data into the current "all_in_one", or to do something completely different? I appreciate all the feedback and suggestions, Theopolisme (talk) 14:10, 1 August 2013 (UTC)
I would say a completely new parameter, I think its best to give editors a lot options.Actually just combine it into the current "all_in_one", all the options are still there individually. And the template is that widespread yet where it would be hard to make the necessary changes in articles where its currently being used.--TriiipleThreat (talk) 14:28, 1 August 2013 (UTC)- I've decided to add it as a new parameter, so as to not break previous instances. It can be accessed as
all_in_one_plus_consensus
...note, however, that it will take up to five days for it to be available in all old uses of the template. Let me know if there's anything else I can do! Theopolisme (talk) 16:13, 1 August 2013 (UTC)

- Thanks!!! Question, is there any way of testing how many people use the template? The trial's success will be measured based on whether it increases the number of Request Edits we receive. For example, if we could measure how many people click on the "Click Here" button. CorporateM (Talk) 23:35, 9 August 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, I think I have an idea of how we can do this. *please hold* Theopolisme (talk) 23:41, 9 August 2013 (UTC)
- The bot will add
{{COI editnotice|track=yes}}
to talk pages—this will make "Click here" preload Template:COI_editnotice/preloadtracker (instead of the normal /preload). When someone clicks that link, this will be preloaded, and the number of requested edits from bot-added links will be available by looking at Special:WhatLinksHere/User:Theo's Little Bot/coi_tracker/bot. Will this suffice? (Just thinking aloud, would it be helpful to track the number of requested edits from normal Click here's as well?) Theopolisme (talk) 00:28, 10 August 2013 (UTC)

By statute, the US cannot own copyright in govt works. 17 USC sec 105 says: "Copyright protection under this title is not available for any work of the United States Government...." 216.59.96.10 (talk) 01:07, 15 August 2013 (UTC) (PraeceptorIP)

Due to some additional ideas that have been suggested, and because I had some in-depth talks with the Foundation, I have pinged Steven walling and Brandon Harris for a yes/no response on one of those suggestions. If they respond positively, it will relieve the community of the technical development aspect, while I'm confident that the volunteers' ideas will be taken very much into consideration and integrated if necessary/possible. wdl template is not working in Bengali Wikipedia
Hi, I've noticed that wdl template is not working in Bengali Wikipedia. I've talked to Sarah Stierch and she told me to inform you, as you've created this template. Also, I can help you in Bengali localization, if required.
Regards. Anubhab91 (talk) 15:57, 4 September 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Anubhab91, sorry for the delayed response. I'll be happy to work with you to get the bot running on the Bengali Wikipedia. Would the citations be able to be in the same format as on enwiki? Do you know what localization would need to take place? Theopolisme (talk) 21:34, 12 September 2013 (UTC)

The company went out of business in 2001. Adding a COI warning to the talk page as you did here is counterproductive. —rybec 15:03, 13 September 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Rybec, the COI warning was added automatically as part of a trial for Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/Theo's Little Bot 26 per consensus. bot task 9
Since you were so responsive, I'm making another complaint. Look if you will at the history of WilliamH's talk page. After he put {{retired}} on the page, your bot left a notice. One day later, a few hours after someone deleted it, the bot left an identical message:
2013-09-02T15:54:28 Theo's Little Bot (+885) . . (Notifying user about missing file description(s) (bot - disable))
2013-09-02T09:18:27 Addshore (-886) . . (messages go poof, pah)
2013-09-01T15:53:56 Theo's Little Bot (+885) . . (Notifying user about missing file description(s) (bot - disable))
The code to disable it did work. It seems to me that people who say they've retired are unlikely to remedy problems with their uploads. Since {{nobots}} doesn't add a huge, black banner to the page, I suspect there's a lot less awareness of it. If a human deletes a notice, it may not be desirable for the bot to repost it. —rybec 22:32, 13 September 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, right now the script doesn't really have an easy way to track what happens to notices after it posts them, and that's something I'm (kind of) working on (tl;dr it will probably end up using some sort of database). In any case, thanks for the report-- Theopolisme (talk) 00:53, 16 September 2013 (UTC)

What happened here? The code (core and submissions.js) is in sync (except my additional JQuery improvements) with GitHub and I have no clue what broke, as I didn't hit accept since ages...
Would you please fix the script at testwp (testwiki:MediaWiki:Gadget-afchelper.js/submissions.js) so that I can check if my JQuery (ticket #57) improvements in /core.js are working correctly? mabdul 11:05, 21 September 2013 (UTC)

- @Mabdul: It's because the script is trying to load a file from a different domain and your browser is trying to block some sort of cross-site scripting attack. Recommended workaround: replace the ajax block with

Regarding the photo on the William A. McNulty page, this is my grandfather and the photo is a cell phone picture of the photo which I have in my home. Your involvement with DRN
Hi there, I noticed that you haven't been as active at DRN as you was before. DRN has been a bit backlogged lately and we could use some extra hands. We have updated our volunteer list to a new format, Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard/Volunteers (your name is still there under the old format if you haven't updated it) and are looking into ways to make DRN more effective and more rewarding for volunteers (your input is appreciated!). If you don't have much time to volunteer at the moment, that's fine too, just move your name to the inactive list (you're free to add yourself back to active at any time). Help test better mass message delivery
Hi. You're being contacted as you've previously used global message delivery (or its English Wikipedia counterpart). It doesn't feel so great to be spammed, does it? ;-)
For the past few months, Legoktm has built a replacement to the current message delivery system called MassMessage. MassMessage uses a proper user interface form (no more editing a /Spam subpage), works faster (it can complete a large delivery in minutes), and no longer requires being on an access list (any local administrator can use it). In addition, many tiny annoyances with the old system have been addressed. It's a real improvement! :-)
You can test out MassMessage here: testwiki:Special:MassMessage. The biggest difference you'll likely notice is that any input list must use a new {{#target:}}
parser function. For example, {{#target:User talk:Jimbo Wales}}
or {{#target:User talk:Jimbo Wales|test2.wikipedia.org}}
. For detailed instructions, check out mw:Help:Extension:MassMessage.
If you find any bugs, have suggestions for additional features, or have any other feedback, drop a note at m:Talk:MassMessage. Thanks for spamming! --MZMcBride (talk) 05:23, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

Page Curation
Do you also happen to know where the source code for the Page Curation tool is located? Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 07:48, 6 October 2013 (UTC)

- Well that didn't help much did it? I already know about repositories - I was expecting help from someone who knows the exact link. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 08:16, 6 October 2013 (UTC)
- All i see there is links to things such as localisations. i'm looking for the actual source code in .js or whatever langue, that makes the page Curation Tool (the fly-out), together withh it's CSS and all the other trappings. Note, I'm note a programmer, but I recognise computer code when I see it, although not whether it is js, java, php, C++, pearl, or whatever. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 08:47, 6 October 2013 (UTC)
- Oh. [6] is probably a better link, the summary page is pretty useless. The localization messages you saw is just the list of recent changes to the repository. Legoktm (talk) 09:17, 6 October 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks. This is somewhat closer but it looks like the php for the actual page feed. I can't identify the elements that make up the separate Curation Toolbar and its front end, which are what I need. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 09:38, 6 October 2013 (UTC)
- I'm assuming the toolbar is written in JS, so it would be in the modules folder. Kaldari should be able to confirm this. Legoktm (talk) 09:43, 6 October 2013 (UTC)

- Not a problem, Anubhab91. Is there a bot approval process at the Bengali Wikipedia? If so, would you be so kind as to file a request for Theo's Little Bot (this is the enwiki request for reference)? Otherwise, please translate the text of
