Resonite moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Resonite, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Thanks! I appreciate it! Themoviea (talk) 21:44, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Resonite

[edit]

Sorry but your screenshots have issues with copyright that needs to be fixed if you wish to keep using them Trade (talk) 16:41, 6 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! These screenshots were given by a member of the Resonite discord server in response to my request for screenshots depicting Resonite's features. They have given me explicit permission to use the screenshots for this Wikipedia article.
How can I let the readers know that these images have been properly acquired through the permission of the person who screenshotted this?
Or is this a whole different problem? Please clarify! Thanks! Themoviea (talk) 20:33, 6 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You need to get the permission in email and send it to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org Trade (talk) 07:40, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Just need them to confirm that the screenshots are indeed released under the cc-by-sa-4.0 license. --Trade (talk) 07:46, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Could I send a discord chat screenshot to the permissions-commons@wikipedia.org? I obtained permission through the Discord chat. I will also ask the person if it is under that license. Also, the users are random players.
P.S. I might not respond for the following 3 to 4 days because my school is having an event where I am not allowed to use any internet-connecting devices for a while. Themoviea (talk) 01:01, 8 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
"Could I send a discord chat screenshot to the permissions-commons@wikipedia.org?" No
"I will also ask the person if it is under that license." So what you are saying is that you lied about the license when uploading the photos? Trade (talk) 15:11, 12 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I will admit that I put the license there without asking the author what it is exactly licensed as. These screenshots were voluntarily sent by a Resonite Discord server member when I asked if anyone had sufficient screenshots for the Resonite article. By default, a image sent in Discord server would not have any sort of license. That's why when Wikipedia required me to put a license, I just put a random one that I thought would make sense.
It is my mistake that I did not properly cite evidence of permission and what the license was. Please understand that I didn't intend to lie about the license.
P.S. My response may sound unintentionally rude etc. because English is my second language.
Another P.S. Since the permission was obtained through the Resonite Discord server chat, how exactly would I provide evidence that I indeed got permission to use the screenshots? Other than getting permission through email, of course. Themoviea (talk) 11:05, 13 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
"By default, a image sent in Discord server would not have any sort of license" You dont. You just hope the email will accept the permission you got through email
"These screenshots were voluntarily sent by a Resonite Discord server member when I asked if anyone had sufficient screenshots for the Resonite article" So you didn't got the photos from the developer staff? Just another player
"By default, a image sent in Discord server would not have any sort of license." That is not how copyright works. Any screenshot is protected under a proprietary license the moments it gets created. It is up for the person wishing to use the screenshot to confirm that the copyright owner have released the photo under the CC-BY-SA 4.0 license Trade (talk) 16:22, 13 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ah I see. I apologize for misunderstanding about copyright, making incorrect assumptions as a result. Also, yes. Those screenshots were from a player.
The author of the screenshot did release the screenshots under CC-BY-SA 4.0 license.
Email has already been sent out to the address you gave, including the proof of permission and confirmation of the release under CC-BY-SA 4.0 license, and now I have to just wait for their response.
Thank you for your assistance in clarifying Wikipedia rules regarding copyright and notifying me about the mistakes I have made in submitting the screenshots. Themoviea (talk) 16:44, 13 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, they replied back, saying that the copyright doesn't just involve the screenshot, but the contents involved in the screenshot (players, objects, etc.). So, even if I have the screenshot creator's permission, I have to basically look at all licenses of the objects and get consent from all players in the screenshot. Resonite, as of now, does not have a way for proper license tracking, which could result in a tedious work and I don't have enough time to get licenses and permission from every single one of them.
So, I have come to the conclusion that I will just remove the screenshots.
Again, thank you for taking your time in assisting me on this matter. I now clearly understand how to properly upload images to Wikipedia. (Edit: Ah, it would probably be better to just leave it to be deleted and remove the screenshots from the article.) Themoviea (talk) 11:35, 14 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have sent an email to the address you provided! Themoviea (talk) 13:41, 13 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Resonite users trapped in a virtual toybox.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Resonite users trapped in a virtual toybox.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{permission pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. Here is a list of your uploads. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Also:

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:00, 8 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
