James F. Abbott

[edit]

Hello again! I have some concerns with the article James F. Abbott which you just created. The problem is that Find-a-grave is not considered a reliable source so the article is currently unreferenced (which should definitely be avoided.) So I've tried to find better sources to back up the content but I'm not finding anything online. IMDb (not a great source either) doesn't have an entry for him and if we're to trust GoogleBooks, his name isn't in the various books that list all American actors of the silent era. There could be a few explanations. First, he could be known under a stage name in which case we need to establish this, move the article to the proper name and add proper references. The second explanation is that he was a fairly obscure actor and consequently that there are no good sources documenting his career. In that case Abbott would not be considered sufficiently notable and the article will be deleted. Let me know if you need help with any of this. Best, Pichpich (talk) 16:06, 28 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm....

[edit]

I didn't know that Find-A-Grave isn't a good source. If it comes to it being deleted I would be sad but i would move on because it was not a sufficiently notable page. Thank you for telling me that my page contains something not reliable Teh Flying Corgi 16:14, 28 February 2013 (UTC)

The thing is that the content of Find-a-grave is user-generated and there's not much quality control. Wikipedia has the same sort of problems but, provided that it is applied, it has a key policy in place to avoid this: all content should be attributed to a reliable, published source such as books, journals, newspapers. Take a little time to track down good references for the article on Abbott and let me know if you need help formatting them. If you come up empty, it's not too complicated to get it deleted. Cheers, Pichpich (talk) 16:22, 28 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

So.....

Is there anyone else out there who wants to talk or something? Teh Flying Corgi 18:52, 28 February 2013 (UTC)

Good morning! (Or other applicable time zone!) Those are called userboxes, and you can find a list of all of them at Wikipedia:Userboxes#Gallery. Sophus Bie (talk) 19:05, 28 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Your signature

[edit]

Hello, I noticed from your post to Jimbo's talk page that your signature does not contain a link to your user page. This is not ideal because most users' signatures contain links to their user and/or talk pages, and bots have trouble interpreting non-standard signatures (for an example involving one of your comments see this edit by SineBot, the automated signature-fixing bot). To fix this problem, go into your preferences and uncheck the box that says "Treat the above as wiki markup ...". Graham87 09:37, 2 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Milacron, Inc. requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content or organised event, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that your page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. PKT(alk) 16:26, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Grumble Grumble Conspiracy Grumble

[edit]

I've made several accounts over the years and i quit always the same reason. All my articles get deleted. The small ones, the stubs, the long ones, it didn't matter. It seems that this website wants my head. So im thinking about quitting because it seems that no one wants me to make stuff. I have created two articles that made feature witch.. guess what? ended up deleted. So yeah :( Teh Flying Corgi (talk) 18:08, 5 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Well since you're the only one who knows which accounts belong to you, you can't assume that this is some sort of sinister vendetta. In the past week alone, four editors who have reached out to you, have explained why these articles are being deleted and have offered to help. There's no shortage of experienced editors willing to answer your questions and if you take the time to ask questions first then you won't lose time writing an article that's unlikely to be kept. Cheers, Pichpich (talk) 18:52, 5 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I Guess...

[edit]

My problem is that it just seems like every article has been made. I cant find any topics that don't have pages that I know about or know places with Info. If someone could direct me to a place with articles that need creation (not the request page, there are none). Also I want to know a easy way to make a bot, because i have an idea for one that will fix a very common mistake. Teh Flying Corgi (talk) 14:52, 6 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You could take look at WP:MISSING. Pichpich (talk) 15:04, 6 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Bot Idea

[edit]

I have noticed that everywhere there are the mistakes of no ' in like didnt or youre. So i had an idea for a ApostropheBot that would go around and fix them. I just dont know how to make a bot. :/

Unfortunately, there are already bots doing this. Pichpich (talk) 15:04, 6 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Damn! but do you know how to make one? i have other ideas. Teh Flying Corgi (talk) 15:08, 6 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
