Guten Tag

[edit]

Hi, I write articles on the English wikipedia. I saw that you sometimes write articles on the German wiki about US musicians that do not have articles in English. Would you be able to let me know if you write more articles like this? We are trying to catch up with the Germans on our own music! My name is Chubbles on the English Wikipedia. Thanks! Chubbles (talk) 22:11, 20 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I will when I write more articles the next time. I just planed two articles about Wayne McGinnis and The Hodges Brothers and I'll continue to search some information about them. When you know some sources, please tell me! The yodeling cowboy (talk) 15:18, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Germany Invitation

[edit]

Hello, The yodeling cowboy! I'd like to call your attention to the WikiProject Germany and the German-speaking Wikipedians' notice board. I hope their links, sub-projects and discussions are interesting and even helpful to you. If not, I hope that new ones will be.

Something that might interest you

[edit]

I put up an article on the recently deceased Bobby Lee Trammell. Chubbles (talk) 01:17, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the clue. Interesting and I'll try to write an German-language article the next time. The yodeling cowboy (talk) 14:06, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's done. The yodeling cowboy (talk) 08:36, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The few facts I've added to the Bill Monroe page originates from a Bear Family Records booklet, and as you probably know, Bear Family is a german record company. --Popiloll (talk) 12:03, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I know, I also have a Bear Family CD of Jimmy & Johnny. If you want to expand the article a little bit, I can help you a bit. My english is not as good as yours, but maybe I can provide with information. If you understand German, you can also look at the article I wrote about Bill Monroe; se de:Bill Monroe. I'm afraid you are wrong, according to http://www.traditionalmusic.co.uk/country-history/History-Country-Western%20-%200271.htm Midwestern Hayride began before 1937 and if you push "next", higher up on the page, you'll see that Riley Puckett was indeed one of the performers of the Midwestern Hayride. Cheers, my friend! --Popiloll (talk) 12:44, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't know that the Midwestern Hayride started as early as it was described at this website. hillbilly-music.com only says that it was first held before 1948, so I thought It was only one or two years on the air at that moment. Sorry for my wrong claim! Best regards, The yodeling cowboy (talk) 11:37, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi I am Curley Money's grandson and I published an article that you blocked for copy right infringement. I am just trying to put something on Wikipedia about my grandfather and keep running into problems at every corner. I have re-written the article and would like you to read it. I really don't see were I was guilty of copy right infringement anyway since the article on the website you listed probably isn't copy written in the first place. And who ever wrote it didn't have My grandfather's, my dad's or my permission to write an article about him in the first place, but I'm not complaining that they did. I'm honored that they would write an article and I think they did a good job with it. Anyway I have re-written the article to what I feel is not infringement of any sort and I hope that you will leave it alone now and help see that my gradfathers article gets put back out there. If you need to talk to me for any reason please write me at envelopexpress@yahoo.com

revised article: http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Curley_Money/Temp

Thanks!

Hello. The version I saw was a in part direct copy from the website which you mentioned. I've put together an article about your grandfather in german, see at the German wikipedia de:Curley Money. I used the text as source. The new version you made is good and I will report this at the copyright page. I'm not sure who made it, but anybody had copied the text from my source in your article, but your new article is even better. regards, The yodeling cowboy (talk) 14:41, 22 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Blue Suede Shoes

[edit]

Take a look at the smirking toilet paper text in this article. It does not really relate to Shoes IMO. I have seen this clip from the Allen Show, and have in in avi format. I don't think Allen is smirking, and I don't think what is probably "butcher paper" looks much at all like "toilet paper". After the "presentation", Elvis sings "I Want You I Need You I Love You". Then Allen comes out a second time and sets up "Hound Dog". OneFortyOne loves putting this sort of thing in articles, and I'd like your opinion on whether or not in belongs in an article on "Shoes". Thanks Steve Pastor (talk) 21:48, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Steve. I'm sorry, but I can't find any text in the article about toilet paper, but I know the clip you're talking about (saw it on youtube). I agree that it's not toilet paper and Allen isn't smirking IMO, but I wouldn't walk around the block for that, due to the bad clip's quality. However, I wouldn't include a text about that in the article, it's not relevant. The yodeling cowboy (talk) 08:46, 11 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Early, proto? Rockabilly

[edit]

Would you like me to join that discussion? You both make good points. You might want to take a look at the Rockin Country Style web site hosted by Emory University. There you will see (the site is now being blocked from my computer!) that songs by Ernie Ford ARE rated as pertinent to the rockabilly style, using an objective system of ratings. I've been coming across many statements about people playing "rocking" stuff before "rockabilly". To me, we already sort of cover that with the pre Elvis stuff. You and Digby both know bunches about this. For Digby, though, the problem is lack of "verifiable" references. You both seem to be locked in one of those arguments that isn't/won't go anywhere! Shall we continue to discuss here? Go to the Rockabilly talk page??? (Did I really write "smirking toilet paper text"?? No. Must have been my Evil Twin.) Steve Pastor (talk) 19:38, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Steve. I sure would like to hear your opinion about this topic. I think we had such a discussion earlier about what Bill Haley's music is and so on. I know you also have much knowledge about rockabilly and that your point of view is more like Digby's than mine. I may be one of these persons who are called purists... ;) However, please tell us your opinion (on Digby's page). Regards, The yodeling cowboy (talk) 11:31, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Arnold Schutz

[edit]

Hi, I used the book "In the Country of Country" by Nicholas Dawidoff to identify the photo of Arnold Schultz and Clarence Wilson. Dawidoff seems to me a credible researcher who spent a great deal of time researching the origins of Country Music and conducting interviews. That being said, I am still pursuing a definitive answer on that, so that the photo can be used on Wikipedia. The only other identification for the man on the right in the photo, that I have seen, comes from a genealogy page and I am still waiting from a reply from that page's author.Jacqke (talk) 15:23, 14 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, thanks for your reply. You used a good source I think. Thanks! The yodeling cowboy (talk) 14:59, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
