Pigsonthewing.
I am trying to bring truth to the page in my name that reports many things which are not true. I have not assumed ownership of the page but would like to correct the record. Nobody knows the truths of the matter more than that of the subject of the matter. If Wikipedia is interested in putting forth true information on people then they should be welcoming my input on who I am, what I have done and why I have done it, My belief system. The information that is currently on the Ryan Bundy page sites sources which do not have the full truth and are only stating their opinions. Just because an article has been published does not make it true.
So my question is: Is Wikipedia interested in disseminating true information or rhetoric? I would like to put out true information for people to read about me, not false information. False information is defamatory. Defamation is not lawful because it is harmful to a person.
I understand the concern that there is a conflict of interest when one writes of himself. There should at least be a section on the page wherein the subject of the page can weigh in on himself.
So what can we do here to correct the misinformation being disseminated on your website regarding me? I would like to contribute truth to the page.
Help me out here. The real Ryan Bundy (talk) 21:23, 11 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, with regards to your comment above: I understand the concern that there is a conflict of interest when one writes of himself. There should at least be a section on the page wherein the subject of the page can weigh in on himself...
The place for that would be the talk page for the article in question (accessible in the top left hand corner of the article). That is where users with a conflict of interest can propose changes to article text which can then be approved or declined by non-conflicted volunteers. Details of the relevant process can be found here WP:COI, but please note that if information is correctly sourced (and accurately represents that source) then it will not be possible to replace it with unsourced material directly from the article subject. All information on Wikipedia must be verifiable (WP:V), usually via sources independent of the subject (WP:RS).
If you believe the current material in the article is defamatory then you might take a look at WP:LIBEL for another avenue on how to potentially resolve that. However, my understanding is that the underlying issue is likely whether or not Wikipedia is accurately reflecting the published sources (which you seem to accept that it is, only that the published sources contain information which in your opinion is incorrect, as per your edit summary here [1]).
Further attempts to directly edit the article will be reverted, so I think those are really your two options at this stage.
Hopefully these notes are of assistance. Axad12 (talk) 06:18, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because the username, The real Ryan Bundy, matches the name of a well-known, living person.

If you are the person represented by this username, please note that the practice of blocking such usernames is to protect you from being impersonated, not to discourage you from editing Wikipedia. You may choose to edit under a new username (see information below), but keep in mind that you are welcome to continue to edit under this username.

If you choose to keep your current username, please send an email to info-en@wikimedia.org including your real name and your Wikipedia username to receive instructions from our volunteer response team about account verification. Please do not send documentation without being requested to do so.

If you are not the person represented by this username, you are welcome to choose a new username (see below).

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.

Please take a moment to either create a new account, or request a username change to this account.

  • To create a new account with a different username, simply log out of this account and then click here to make a new one.
  • If you prefer to change the username of this account, you may do so by adding the following text to the bottom of your user talk page (this page): {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Important items to note:

  • The new username that you choose must comply with Wikipedia's username policy.
  • The new username you choose cannot already be taken and used by another account. You can search here to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns, "There is no global account for [username]", that means it is available.

Appeals: If your username is not in violation of Wikipedia's username policy, and if you believe that this block was incorrect or made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the following text to the bottom of your user talk page (this page): {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

My edits are an attempt to bring truth to a page where many falsehoods are currently being portrayed. They were not intended to be disruptive. I find it rather disruptive to hinder the truth from being told. The real Ryan Bundy (talk) 21:40, 11 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please refer to Wikipedia:Verifiability, not truth. The summary of that essay says "Any material added to Wikipedia must have been published previously by a reliable source. Editors may not add content solely because they believe it is true, nor delete content they believe to be untrue, unless they have verified beforehand with a reliable source." Wikipedia only reflects what has been previously published by third-party sources - it is not a place for someone to right great wrongs. If you dispute what the sources published, then your grievance is with them, not Wikipedia. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 14:09, 18 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
