- I'm not doing anything wrong what I did is perfectly legit and correct there wern't any British monarchs before 1707 so it doen't need to be stated. The Quill (talk) 16:23, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
Papal styles infobox
Hi. Your recent edits to the papal styles infobox Template:Infobox Popestyles have resulted in the image no long working, as you can see at any of the pages using the infobox, e.g., Pope Clement I, Pope Paul V. I'm going to attempt to revert the infobox to a functional version, but please feel free to reinstate any changes you were trying to make. Just make sure to check that the infobox is displaying properly after you finish making whatever changes you were attempting. Thanks! Dgf32 (talk) 20:53, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
Template reverts
Template are different to articles because they are transcluded into many articles. Therefore one has to exercise a bit more care in editing them. Some of the new/revised functions I had edited into T:IBR I have already widely implemented. Your careless snap revert on said changes could have caused noticeable damage to a number of articles. Please do take care in future DBD 01:51, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
When I said "A person works hard to make a useful change and all you have to say when you undo all of that work is "revert"? I say "revert" too", I did not mean to say that I agree with you. I meant to say that you need to explain why are you reverting. DBD made several useful changes and you think you can just "revert" without even saying what's wrong with his edits? - I understand what your trying to say however I'm sorry if you didn't detect the 'hint' of sarcasm in my second revert. The Quill (talk) 14:39, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
- I did, but I was hoping you weren't sarcastic. I am sorry if you were because sarcasm isn't really helpful. Surtsicna (talk) 15:18, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
...is titled thusly due to our conventions, not as a Queen of England, but as a Princess of England and consort to a foreign monarch. DBD 19:16, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
- I'm in the process of giving the name Matilda of England to Empresss Matilda and asuch Matilda, Duchess of Saxony needs a different name. The Quill (talk) 19:22, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
- Well, each one is equally entitled to be at "Matilda of England", seeing as they were Princess of England named Matilda and consorts to foreign monarchs... So if one has a dab (Matilda, Duchess of Saxony), then surely must'nt the other (Empress Matilda or Matilda, Holy Roman Empress)? DBD 19:32, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
- Also, that's not how pages are moved! Copy-and-paste moves interrupt page histories DBD 19:34, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
Hmmm... perhaps we can move Empress Matilda to Maud of England, if it's neccessary to distinguish her from Matilda, Duchess of Saxony. She is well known as Maud too. However, I do not see any problem with moving Empress Matilda to Matilda of England, since her granddaughter is known as Matilda of Saxony anyway. Surtsicna (talk) 19:59, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
