Elder Scrolls transwiki

[edit]

Hi, I understand that you find the Elder Scrolls articles on Wikipedia to be useful, although I still believe that many of them do not meet Wikipedia's notability criteria. A good alternative might be to transfer content to another wiki—or "transwiki". I believe there is a wiki devoted to The Elder Scrolls somewhere, which would naturally be willing to accept very detailed and specialized TES articles. Even deleted Wikipedia articles can be moved there. If this sounds like it might be useful, I would suggest first locating and contacting the other wiki to see if they are willing to take Wikipedia content, and how much. They may already cover much of what Wikipedia has, in which case there would be no need to move those articles. If you need to move deleted content, just let me or another admin know, as we can view and restore deleted material. Thanks, Pagrashtak 18:33, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The problem I run into with the Transwiki is that I am not the only one who uses Wikipedia for research. There is a reason Wikipedia is at the top of Google for articles such as Black Marsh, Tamriel, Summerset Isles, etc... or for just about any search anymore. :) It is the most comprehensive encyclopedia on the web, so why limit it?The Grey Wizard (talk) 19:19, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
By that same argument, we should have articles about me, you, and the phone on my desk. It's a common misconception that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia about everything—but it isn't. Pagrashtak 19:40, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits

[edit]

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 18:34, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Elder Scrolls Wiki

[edit]

I would encourage you to contribute at one, as I believe one exists. They are a lot of fun for fans, as I actually created one to save some articles of a fantasy series I like), and contributed to another. That way, the internet still keeps the information and Wikipedia stays high quality. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 19:24, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I fail to see how wikipedia is lower quality because Elder Scrolls articles are present. Why is there this movement to rid the elder scrolls from wikipedia when A) It is a game, therefor may be placed under WP Video Games, and B) There is a whole WP Elder Scrolls? Is there a prejudice about Elder Scrolls? I'll check pages for Fallout as well to see if it's something about Bethesda and controversy. The Grey Wizard (talk) 19:33, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just because there is projects it falls under, doesn't mean everything is automatically notable for inclusion. Read some guidelines, before just assuming that Judgesurreal is on a mission to get rid of all Elder Scrolls articles. Also, remember: deletion debates aren't a vote, it's a discussion. One last thing I want to point out: you have very few edits, so I personally feel Wikipedia:Single-purpose account applies to you. RobJ1981 (talk) 20:53, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WP Single-purpose account ehh? Look at how long I've been a member, far before the little ordeal. Check out my first contributions, they had nothing to do with Elder Scrolls. I just think it's ridiculous that their is obviously a joint mission to wipe out Elder Scrolls on Wikipedia. Why? Why not start wiping out individual entries on Lord of the Rings Characters, places, regions, cities, lore, etc...? It's all in universe. What about The Legend of Zelda? How about Final Fantasy? I have no idea why you are attacking me for simply standing up for these pages, which raises even more skepticisms, but it needs to come to an end. This is absolute heresy according to the Wikipedia Five Pillers. Enough edit wars, enough personal attacks (I am sorry I ever started), just enough. I am going to work on these Elder Scrolls Pages and tidy them up so that you don't have articles like "Martin Septim" lying all over the place, but it's going to take me time as nobody seems interested in helping this great series. Give this flame war a rest now. The Grey Wizard (talk) 23:52, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
