Oposing viewpoint.
[edit]I strongly disagree with this opinion. If an article has a chance of being salvaged from AfD, then there is a deadline, and as much work should be done to improve the page. This includes moving the page if required, to meet the MoS guidelines. Who knows - in a borderline case that slight improvement may sway an undecided user towards a keep !vote. If an admin can't work how to follow a redirect, they don't deserve the mop.—An optimist on the run! 17:20, 8 November 2011 (UTC)
Supporting viewpoint
[edit]It should be policy. We admins don't have boundless time or energy. Raise an RM by all means, refer to the RM in the AfD by all means, just close the AfD before the RM. Pleeeeeaaaaase?
Agree that If an admin can't work how to follow a redirect, they don't deserve the mop, but that ain't the issue. Agree that in a borderline case that slight improvement may sway an undecided user towards a keep vote. But a genuinely borderline case doesn't matter anyway, and it ain't a tallied vote. Disagree that such a swinging vote is likely to affect the closing admin's decision. We can generally smell the idiots, and are charged with the responsibility of simply ignoring their "votes" anyway. Andrewa (talk) 01:28, 20 October 2012 (UTC)
