Guideline and policy news

  • A request for comment is open that proposes a process for the community to revoke administrative permissions. This follows a 2019 RfC in favor of creating one such a policy.
  • A request for comment is in progress to remove F7 (invalid fair-use claim) subcriterion a, which covers immediate deletion of non-free media with invalid fair-use tags.
  • A request for comment seeks to grant page movers the delete-redirect userright, which allows moving a page over a single-revision redirect, regardless of that redirect's target. The full proposal is at Wikipedia:Page mover/delete-redirect.
  • A request for comment asks if sysops may place the General sanctions/Coronavirus disease 2019 editnotice template on pages in scope that do not have page-specific sanctions?
  • There is a discussion in progress concerning automatic protection of each day's featured article with Pending Changes protection.

Technical news

  • When blocking an IPv6 address with Twinkle, there is now a checkbox with the option to just block the /64 range. When doing so, you can still leave a block template on the initial, single IP address' talkpage.
  • When protecting a page with Twinkle, you can now add a note if doing so was in response to a request at WP:RfPP, and even link to the specific revision.
  • There have been a number of reported issues with Pending Changes. Most problems setting protection appear to have been resolved (phab:T273317) but other issues with autoaccepting edits persist (phab:T275322).

SPI issue

I think you missed the call for behavioral investigation into the clear cut socking in form of IP abuse. DeltaQuad only said that they cannot use CU tool for that. Aman Kumar Goel (Talk) 18:30, 12 March 2021 (UTC)

@Aman.kumar.goel: Thanks for reaching out. While IP addresses are normally dynamic and the edits referenced are over a month old, a look at more recent contributions does appear to show a definite overlap. I now have warned TheCherryPanda about logged out editing and they have since apologized. Please let me know if this continues. --TheSandDoctor Talk 20:03, 12 March 2021 (UTC)

Adriana Chechik DRV

There is a DRV happening that involves one of your relists. Your input is appreciated. --wL<speak·check> 22:32, 14 March 2021 (UTC)

AfD

Hello, apologies for the random message but can you please take a look at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Elvy Yost? It appears that the participating editors have made no effort to comply with WP:AFDFORMAT. Will the recommended course of action be recognised if they are not bolded? --Ashleyyoursmile! 09:02, 4 March 2021 (UTC)

@Ashleyyoursmile: I would rather that the format be followed, but administrators will still be able to assess. No worries in that regard. --TheSandDoctor Talk 17:50, 4 March 2021 (UTC)
Thank you for taking a look at it and letting me know. :) Ashleyyoursmile! 17:53, 4 March 2021 (UTC)
@Ashleyyoursmile: You're welcome! I am glad that I was able to assist . --TheSandDoctor Talk 04:39, 29 March 2021 (UTC)

Send deleted draft my way?

Hi. You closed an AfD as delete a few months ago. I have several sources now and would like to see if I can revive the article. Would you draftify the article discussed here: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Ritmo_nuevo_y_vieja_ola ? Thanks. DiamondRemley39 (talk) 22:14, 13 March 2021 (UTC)

And this one too, please. DiamondRemley39 (talk) 22:17, 13 March 2021 (UTC)
@DiamondRemley39: My apologies for the delay. I have draftified Draft:Ritmo nuevo y vieja ola and Draft:El Primer beso. Please don't move them to the mainspace unless approved via AfC, at the Teahouse by volunteers there, or a reviewer. --TheSandDoctor Talk 04:26, 29 March 2021 (UTC)

Mentorship

Hello,

I have been inactive for three months and would like to train under you. I took time off to reflect as I was way too overconfident and involved in places where I shouldn't have been. I would love to learn under your mentorship and grow as a Wikipedia editor! Thanks, Mr. Heart (talk) 04:32, 19 March 2021 (UTC)

PS You can contact me on IRC for more ease. Mr. Heart (talk) 04:35, 19 March 2021 (UTC)
Hi @HeartatSchool:, I haven't mentioned anyone previously haha. I could definitely help out though in that regard. If you ever have any questions, I am reachable on here and IRC under the same nick; if reaching out on the latter, please understand that I may redirect you here if it is a more appropriate venue for any particular conversation. --TheSandDoctor Talk 04:38, 29 March 2021 (UTC)

You are invited to join the discussion at WP:THQ § Draftify deleted articles. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:21, 29 March 2021 (UTC)

Hi TheSandDoctor. Perhaps you can help this editor out? It seems to be related to #Send deleted draft my way?. I will also advise them to take a look at #3 in your edit notice at the top of this page. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:23, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
@Marchjuly: Thanks for the poke. I somehow either forgot or missed the messages earlier about that. I have now actioned as requested and commented at the Teahouse. I've been quite busy lately, unfortunately. --TheSandDoctor Talk 04:35, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
No worries. I figured one or the other was most likely what had happened. Thank you posting at the Teahouse. -- Marchjuly (talk) 04:37, 29 March 2021 (UTC)

IP Address keeps edit warring on Bindi Irwin

Hi, this IP address 71.40.90.246 is continuously edit warring on Bindi Irwin. They been warned so many times but continues to do it. Wonder if you can help? Thank you! Cristabel0 (talk) 07:32, 30 March 2021 (UTC)

@Cristabel0: Blocked for 24hrs for edit warring. Please let me know if this persists. If it happens from more than one IP (over a short timespan), I will protect it again. --TheSandDoctor Talk 14:09, 30 March 2021 (UTC)

Thank you so much for that. Have a great day! Cristabel0 (talk) 23:05, 30 March 2021 (UTC)
