Hello, I'm Yintan. I wanted to let you know that I undid one of your recent contributions, such as the one you made with this edit to Rangers F.C., because it didn’t appear constructive to me. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks,  Yinta 16:37, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That's me completely fixed the page mate. I am glad I was able to contribuite by adding in a Coefficient table. TheGlasgaeJimmy (talk) 16:39, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your recent edits to the Rangers FC page.

[edit]

Thanks for your recent edits to the page Rangers F.C.. The coefficient table is a useful addition to the page, I'v updated the values for coefficient though because you only included this seasons coefficient, not the 5 year average. The sponsors list you added however isn't really relevant to the page other than the main sponsor (Tennents, soon to be Blackthorn), so I'v reverted that edit. If you have ideas on things to add to the page, but aren't sure of their relevance, you could ask on the talk page in future. Also, good way of finding ideas on things to add, is by looking at other football club pages and using them as an example. If you have any questions about editing on wikipedia or if you need help adding anything to articles in future give me a shout. Cheers. VanguardScot 21:38, 23 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to point out just two things in that case, firstly, the thing about Rangers winning the league on March 30th away to Montrose in the Ally McCoist and Insolvency parapgraph, we couldn't have won it without Elgin beating Queen's Park at Hampden, which completely changes everything! So you might want to edit something in there lol and secondly, on the directors list, Philip Cartmell had left Rangers on Sunday, so you might want to edit that part as well bud. > http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/rangers/10009245/Rangers-boardroom-woes-grow-as-director-steps-down.html TheGlasgaeJimmy (talk) 21:00, 24 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The newspaper article says he 'is to quit soon', so we can remove him when he actually quits. Also I'v fixed the Montrose sentence so it makes sense. VanguardScot 14:35, 26 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks again VanguardScot :) TheGlasgaeJimmy (talk) 09:57, 27 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You need to provide a source that says the capacity has changed. It's also best to have a secondary source like the SPFL rather than a primary source like Rangers themselves, see Wikipedia:No original research#Primary, secondary and tertiary sources. Rangers

[edit]

Hi,

Just to explain that I've removed some of what you added to the Rangers F.C. article. I did this for a number of reasons.

  • Adding the number of years of that have elapsed since a date only means that someone has to keep updating it every year. Better just leave it as the date.
  • The info box field is intended to be just a year.
  • The original name of the team is a detail best left to the history section. It doesn't need to be in the info box or in the lead, and just confuses things.
  • A Youtube video is not a useful or acceptable cite. Particularly one that was uploaded in a violation of the original publisher's copyright. Please try and find a better one.

Thanks. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 23:17, 6 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You seem to be able to edit ok now, have you fixed the problem? PhilKnight (talk) 02:30, 16 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It depends on what internet browser on my iPad I use, Phil. Safari works but it isn't really that good. Puffin Browser which is what I use normally seems to have stopped me from editing, so I need to be free to edit from that app. TheGlasgaeJimmy (talk) 10:37, 16 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that Safari on the iPad isn't ideal, so I usually use Chrome, but I'll give Puffin a try. Anyway, I've just learned that Puffin compresses and channels all of its traffic through servers in California to speed up browsing. Unfortunately, it has been used by miscreants quite a bit to vandalize Wikipedia, so the servers' range has been blocked several times, most recently by Elockid. I agree that it is not a web hosting range per se, but due to the past abuse, I doubt that we will unblock it. However, I will offer you IP block exemption to allow you to edit through the block. Let us know if that suits you. —DoRD (talk) 16:00, 16 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that will suit me DoRD. Thanks. TheGlasgaeJimmy (talk) 18:42, 16 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

IP block exempt

[edit]

I have granted your account an exemption from IP blocking. This will allow you to edit through full blocks affecting your IP address when you are logged in.

Please read the page Wikipedia:IP block exemption carefully, especially the section on IP block exemption conditions.

Note in particular that you are not permitted to use this userright to edit Wikipedia via anonymous proxies, or disruptively. If you do, or there is a concern of abuse, then the right may be removed by any administrator.

Appropriate usage and compliance with the policy may be checked (through the use of CheckUser) periodically, due to the nature of block exemption, and block exemption will be removed when no longer needed (for example, when the block it is related to expires).

I hope this will enhance your editing, and allow you to edit successfully and without disruption. —DoRD (talk) 19:02, 16 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Jason Cummings, you may be blocked from editing. GiantSnowman 19:32, 31 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Would you please be able to now revert back all my changes GiantSnowman as every edit I done was to add on the correct appearance numbers as well as appearances from tonights match, thanks. TheGlasgaeJimmy (talk) 21:48, 31 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have checked the stats for the Rangers player articles on my watchlist (Barjonas, McCrorie, Miller and Jack) and concur that TheGlasgaeJimmy's updates were correct as per the sources. I have reverted the ones I watch, not sure if you updated the whole squad, in which case you might have to do it yourself, or maybe GiantSnowman could check the sources and revert himself on those that are correct? Possibly some errors have been found but certainly the ones I checked were accurate and any which are wrong were almost certainly made in good faith. Crowsus (talk) 23:31, 31 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Crowsus (talk) and yes, I had edited every player in the first teams appearance numbers. The only ones that I never changed were Dodoo, Herrera and Murphy as I didn't know who was going to be subbed on for Rangers last night. I used Transfermarkt for my statistics which is a very reliable website.
Actually, transfermarkt is not considered to be reliable as some of its edits can be made by users similarrly to Wikipedia, and apparently there was previously an issue with false data being inserted. So it should not be used/referenced to be on the safe side, which is a shame as it does definitely contain a lot of useful stats which are correct. The existing statistical sources for the stats on the players I edited were Soccerway, Soccerbase and Fitbastats, which are considered reliable, so in future I would use those.
The updates may well have been reverted due to the appearances for the cup match being added before it took place, you should never do this as it just causes confusion, folk will see one stat at the end of the match and update it +1 even though you already did so at the start. And occasionally, team lineups can change from the published list when the match is actally played. For that reason, please wait until the match finishes. In particular, your update to Josh Windass would have caused confusion as it did not include the goals he scored. Coincidentally, the four players I looked at earlier did not play in the Fraserburgh match so I was not aware of that aspect. So, GiantSnowman was correct to revert you on the cup participants for breaching that guideline, although the edits on the non-participants were fine. Please keep this in mind for the future: as you have seen, the admins are very keen to adhere to guidelines for stats and for living person bios, they will look at all changes and anything that doesn't comply will be undone, which in your case is a a shame, wasting your time having added a lot of fiddly stuff which was meant to be accurate, and will be in future if you follow said guidelines. Crowsus (talk) 01:44, 1 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, I saw someone adding a Cup game to Rangers players just before kick off, and assumed it was a premature stat update. Apologies if not. GiantSnowman 08:46, 1 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Can I revert all my changes back knowing everythings ok?

In theory, yes, but I would check all the players to check if someone else hasn't done the same update since yours was undone. In the case of Windass i think they have. Crowsus (talk) 22:45, 1 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Information icon Hello. Once again, please do not mark major edits as minor. External links are not minor edits. Also, please do not change external links without any explanation. Your recent addition of a single source to a huge number of articles (replacing the previous links without any explanation), combined with the minor edits marks, dangerously resembles spamming.—J. M. (talk) 23:29, 19 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi J. M. (talk) sorry if it appeared to look like spam, no offence meant. Will know next time. Just trying to update as many old un-updated Munro pages from 2013 as I can. Many changes to heights and rankings since then. All new data on the Munros can be found at Hill Bagging - (DoBIH), as Walkhighlands and Munro Magic have very outdated figures.

[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Munro, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Glencoe (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 14:05, 20 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Stop hiding edits as minor

[edit]

You still don't get it. Stop hiding external links as minor edits. This edit can be clearly classified as spam. No edit summary, marked as a minor edit, adding external links like "Track your Munro progress and keep your friends up to date" which is not acceptable in an encyclopedia. Please stop your disruptive editing. You may be blocked from editing the next time you disrupt Wikipedia.—J. M. (talk) 16:32, 30 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
