List of ongoing armed conflicts Map

[edit]

It's great that you have updated the map on the List of ongoing armed conflicts but it has some problems. The map is supposed to show how people have died in a location, not a war. For example, while Yemen is correct for being colored dark red, Saudi Arabia is not. Despite being grouped into the Yemeni civil war, Saudi Arabia should only be the color yellow because only 74 people were killed there in the past year.

Here are some other problems:

1. Saudi Arabia should be yellow - 74 deaths 2. Sudan should be red - 1,000+ deaths 3. Eritrea should be yellow - 1 death in the past year 4. Venezuela should be orange - 174 deaths in the current year 5. Tanzania should be yellow - 43 deaths in the past year 6. Kenya should be orange - 300 deaths in the past year 7. South Korea should be gray as all of the death in the current or past year have all happened in Korea

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at List of ongoing armed conflicts, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. M.Bitton (talk) 13:08, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

My information put into the map came from the article, so by claiming that the map needs to come from a reliable source, you are also making the claim that the article itself is unstable and unreliable. In that case, we need to redo the entire article, right? If you want to continue going down this road, we will be in an edit war, and nobody wants that. Regardless, I'm not going down without a fight, and I will not cease to put back in the original map. ThatMapGuy (talk) 13:21, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on List of ongoing armed conflicts. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. M.Bitton (talk) 13:32, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You have been told my more than one editor that your map is baseless and factually incorrect, so why do you keep adding it? M.Bitton (talk) 13:29, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, your the only one. Again, I'm not going out without a fight, so have fun reverting my edits, it wont end though.ThatMapGuy (talk) 13:30, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

No, I'm not the only one and the article's history is there to prove it. M.Bitton (talk) 13:33, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There's no signature to prove that it wasn't you. ThatMapGuy (talk) 13:34, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Notice of edit warring noticeboard discussion

[edit]

Information icon Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion involving you at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring regarding a possible violation of Wikipedia's policy on edit warring. The thread is Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring#User:ThatMapGuy reported by User:M.Bitton (Result: ). Thank you. M.Bitton (talk) 13:35, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, salty much? Also, what do you make of yourself? Your not even an editor or a moderator. What are you even doing with your life? Do you get paid to do this or something? ThatMapGuy (talk) 13:37, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • At WP:ANEW you stated "I'll quit trying to put my map on the page." M.Bitton has asked you to self-revert, but you haven't done so or responded. I would like to mark the report as resolved rather than block you for violating 3RR. Please self-revert. While I'm here, you need to improve your behavior vis-a-vis other editors, or you risk being blocked for lack of civility and failure to collaborate.--Bbb23 (talk) 18:39, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but no. Thanks. ThatMapGuy (talk) 18:42, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon with clock
You have been blocked from editing for a period of 1 week for edit warring and violating the three-revert rule, as you did at List of ongoing armed conflicts. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Bbb23 (talk) 19:02, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
