Stats in football players' infoboxes

[edit]

Hi.

When you update the stats in football players' infoboxes please remember that you should also update the timestamps as of when the stats are correct. This is done by updating |pcupdate= (or |club-update=) parameter when updating club appearances and goals, or |ntupdate= (or |nationalteam-update=) when updating national team appearances and goals. This shows when the stats were last updated and prevents editors from accidentally updating the stats again.

The easiest way to do this is to use five tildes, which automatically converts to the current time. For example |club-update=~~~~~.

Please keep this in mind. Thank you. Qed237 (talk) 22:29, 13 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The article Marc Petteway has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No indication of notability per WP:BIO or WP:NHOOPS, and certain claims such as his death are unverified.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ... discospinster talk 13:18, 12 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm Boleyn. Thanbla, thanks for creating Giorgos Maslarinos!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. All references for living people should be WP:INLINECITED, and one inline source isn't enough to show this is a neutral and accurate article.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

Kostas Antetokounmpo and Nigerian passport

[edit]

Hey, I just wanted to let you know that Kostas Antetokounmpo does not have a Nigerian citizenship. Even though some sites like eurobasket.com wrongly claim that. It has in fact been explained in numerous articles that the Antetokounmpo brothers after Francis, never received any nationality from Nigeria. They were eligible for it, in fact it was offered to Thanasis (to play with their national team), but never taken. So they are Nigerian descent and passport for the younger brothers yes, but they have never had any citizenship, whatever. If you want the Nigerian part in the article, then just say the descent is Nigerian, the parents are from there or whatever and the passport. But it is factually incorrect to list Nigerian as his nationality, when he does not have it. Listing under section Nationality and then saying "Nigerian" incorrectly implies to readers he officially has Nigerian citizenship, when he does not. I will leave it listed though, but I think this is a very debatable thing, since the passport is just that, and not official citizenship. Bluesangrel (talk) 04:12, 8 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Giannis and Thanasis don't have any Nigerian passport. Regardless of what Greek media claimed anywhere, they simply don't. Their parents gave up their Nigerian citizenship, and that's how they could stay in Greece without being deported. It's also how at age 22 Thanasis still had no state status. Neither of them could even go to Nigeria. They entered into US with visas through a Greek passport. Francis was born in Nigeria, and stayed there for awhile, so he has citizenship. Kostas and Alexis were given a passport from Nigeria so they could enter legally into the US. Otherwise, without any state status they would be detained by the US upon entering it. So Thanasis and Giannis definitely do not have Nigerian citizenship, no matter what any Greek media claims. Francis does. The younger brothers, Kostas and Alexis...if we want to have "Nigerian" listed under citizenship, I guess it is OK. Because of having a passport. But that still is different than being granted full citizenship. Because they simply got a passport from the Nigerian embassy so that they could legally travel outside of Greece, and then could legally get a visa in the United States. Iam not a legal expert on nationality rules or anything, but I am pretty sure that is different than being granted full state citizenship, which is what the nationality category in the infobox is for. But like I said, I won't change it if it lists Nigerian for Kostas. But definitely Giannis and Thanasis don't have Nigerian nationality. Some Greek reporter can write whatever, but numerous times in numerous interviews I have seen them both asked that question of if they would play for Nigeria and they both said every time, we have no citizenship, no passport, no papers, from Nigeria, and we won't get any either, so we won't play for their national team. I see no reason for Giannis and Thanasis to lie, especially when even the reports saying Kostas and Alexis needed a Nigerian passport to enter the US legally, even the same states Giannis and Thanasis entered the US on Greek passports, and not ones from Nigeria. So their own reporting makes no sense and is contradicting itself. They would have entered US on Nigerian passports if they had them, to have same exact status as the rest of the family, and because US is much friendlier to Nigerian immigrants than to Greek ones, at least at that time.Bluesangrel (talk) 15:34, 8 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Nagol0929 (talk) 12:01, 19 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Greek people of Trinidad and Tobago descent indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Liz Read! Talk! 16:44, 11 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Why are you delete that page? Both brothers have father from Trinidad and mother from Greece. Thanks for your time. Thanbla (talk) 10:38, 12 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to join New pages patrol

[edit]

Hello Thanbla!

  • The New Pages Patrol is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles needing review. We could use a few extra hands to help.
  • We think that someone with your activity and experience is very likely to meet the guidelines for granting.
  • Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time, but it requires a strong understanding of Wikipedia’s CSD policy and notability guidelines.
  • Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision, and feel free to post on the project talk page with questions.
  • If patrolling new pages is something you'd be willing to help out with, please consider applying here.

Thank you for your consideration. We hope to see you around!

Speedy deletion nomination of Konstantinos Goumas

[edit]

Hello, Thanbla,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Zoglophie and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I have tagged an article that you started, Konstantinos Goumas, for deletion, because a consensus decision previously decided that it wasn't suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. If you wish to restore a page deleted via a deletion discussion, please use the deletion review process instead, rather than reposting the content of the page.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. If the page is already deleted by the time you come across this message and you wish to retrieve the deleted material, please contact the deleting administrator.

For any further query, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Zoglophie}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

August 2024 - Edit summaries

[edit]

Information icon Hello Thanbla. I'm Quaerens-veritatem. Please provide a summary of every edit you make. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history. Summaries help other editors by (a) providing a reason for the edit, (b) saving the time to open up the edit to find out what it's all about, and (c) providing information about the edit on diff pages and lists of changes (such as page histories and watchlists).

According to Wikipedia's consensus policy, all edits should be explained —either by clear edit summaries, or by discussion on the associated talk page.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit and a summary of what the edit changes. You can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Tick Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. As a reminder: When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

If the edit is minor, the "This is a minor edit" box can be checked. See, Help:Minor_edit. A good rule of thumb is that only edits consisting solely of spelling corrections, formatting changes, or rearrangement of text without modification of the content may be flagged as minor edits.

Many who are ignorant of the Wikipedia policy on edit summaries fail to add them. Some ignore this basic brief task; however, failure seems arrogant and inconsiderate specially since summaries are so easy to add. Thank you for your consideration.

Invitation to participate in a research

[edit]

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

WMF Research Team
