Rhododendron vaseyi
[edit]Hi Teun - I'd got this from Huxley, New RHS Dictionary, which states in the key "stamens usually 7 (rarely fewer)" and in the species description "stamens (5-)7". A google search ["Rhododendron vaseyi" stamens] soon found plenty more refs to 5-7 stamens being the norm (and a useful identification feature) for the species (e.g. [1], [2]) - MPF 16:06, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

Agincourt map
[edit]Hi, the Agincourt map is definitely helpful, but if I were to be picky... could you correct the spelling of "Crosbow" on the map to "Crossbow"? Thanks.
--145.221.52.70 12:50, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
- You are right, stupid typ. I'd be delighted to correct this, but alas I donn't remember the font type. Changing one name would look very ugly. Also I no longer have the original, but everyone is of course free to download and modify it. I made it with MS paint, which comes "free" with WXP, nothing fancy. TeunSpaans 16:00, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
Hi, just reverted you... they do in fact have yellow stamens.
(I try to leave a note when I revert people who I consider to be great editors). --SB_Johnny|talk|books 16:55, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
- OOps...now that I think of it, they have purple stamens, and yellow anthers... changing that now :).--SB_Johnny|talk|books 16:57, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
- Huh... hadn't even noticed the structure there that implied 3 stamens (will correct later if you don't first). It definitely has six (reliable source: my eyes... I grow this plant at home and in many gardens I work in). --SB_Johnny|talk|books 18:22, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
On Brya
[edit]It is possible to chime in by adding a comment section, although for arbitration, it's not often done by uninvolved members. If you do contribute, I suggest trying to keep it very brief and nonemotional. Take care. --Improv 04:05, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Wikipedia:WikiProject Plants
[edit]Hi! As a member of the Wikipedia:WikiProject_Plants you might be interested in supporting the nomination of Cactus for Article Improvement Drive. IMHO there is an underrepresentation of plants among featured articles. This is our chance! If you agree, you can support the nomination at Wikipedia:Article_Creation_and_Improvement_Drive. --Chino 07:20, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Notability standards for military personnel:
[edit]Re: Notability standards for military personnel
I have proposed a standard for military personnel at Wikipedia talk:Notability (people). I am forwarding this information to you because you are invloved with the history project and may be able to rally some discussion on the topic. I see problems with defending military and other historical biographies in the AfD process where G-hit are the "king"
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi thanks for the feedback on Rhomnalda, AGPII is a must have source. I will add some of my own images for R. strobilacea and R. grallata soon. I would appreciate your comments on some articles I have just started LenwebbiaMyrtaceae and Medicosma Rutaceae, thanks again.

For what it's worth, the Maxfield Parrish image of Old King Cole is public domain in the USA and worldwide. It was printed in 1909, well before the 1923 cutoff date before which anything published in the USA is PD, and is by an American artist. All it needed, really, was an updated copyright tag; they were much simpler back in the day. On the other hand, I prefer the Project Gutenberg image from Commons as an illustration of Old King Cole anyways. That one, at least, shows a pipe and a bowl. So I don't really care what happens to the existing Cole image. I don't see anything on the images for deletion page specifically about the Parrish image, so the nomination may yet be incomplete. - Smerdis of Tlön 15:24, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
- That's right< I only tagged it for deletion, I did not list it on the images for deletion page. Thanks for updating the license tag. TeunSpaans 20:26, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

Regarding plant articles
[edit]In response to a cleanup request I have done some work on Zephyranthes. I'm not sure if such things as bolding vs italics vs normal is the preferred form for common names (rain lily), species names in the article (Z. jonesii or Z. jonesii) and other things. Is there a 'perfect article' that you can refer me to for use as a template for this and future article cleanup? Thnx--killing sparrows 19:23, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I made them red to encourage me to go out and find enough for at least a stub on each of them. I agree that the listed names are fine in normal font and the ones within the article should be italicized and just wanted a second opinion. I'll ask in plant project for a model article. Thanks for getting back to me. By the way, if you click on the blue 'killing sparrows' at the top of my user page it takes you to a web site that has hundreds of propaganda posters from China, starting with the 'Every one comes to kill sparrows!' Not a spam link, the guy has a collection and does research, etc. --killing sparrows 05:31, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

Please upload images to Commons
[edit]Thank you for uploading free images/media such as Image:PolygonumPersicara-flower-sm.jpg to Wikipedia! As you may know, there is another Wikimedia Foundation project called Wikimedia Commons, a central media repository for all free media. In the future, please upload media there instead (see m:Help:Unified login). That way, all of the other language Wikipedias can use them too, as well as our many sister projects. This will also allow our visitors to search for, view and use our media in one central location. If you wish to move previous uploads to Commons, see Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons (you may view your previous uploads). Please note that non-free content, such as images claimed as fair use, cannot be uploaded to the Wikimedia Commons. Help us spread the word about Commons by informing other users, and please continue uploading!Richard001 05:29, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
