Cyclostomata Review

[edit]

Article Review of Cyclostomata I noticed on the page that the article has been labeled as "start", which hinted to me that the article needs some work. I went throughout the page and noticed very quickly that it was very short. It is a total of 9 paragraphs. The page only has two sections. Resources:The page does have excellent sources. 15 sources for this small amount of writing and they are all reliable, they come from books or scientific journals. Intro: The introduction to the paragraph is decent, but it doesn't really suggest what the rest of the content will be about. It is clear and easy to understand and is an interesting enough topic sentence. I personally found the similarities and differences section poorly written. The section bounces around a lot and would have been more effective if they had written a paragraph about each organism and then a paragraph about the differences and similarities. The article is neutral in that it gives both hypothesis about the relationship of cyclostomatas to other classes. There are 6 sources which are older than ten years old. This does not necessarily mean they are no longer accurate but a newer more up to date article is probably published. The "related text and images" link did not work. Nor did resource number four.I would say that the sources are rather neutral as they are all published science journals. I think it would be very helpful to have more sections that were broken down...i.e. evolution, anatomy/characteristics, comparisons, genetics, more information here would be the key. I also think that a few diagrams of a cladogram or phylogenetic tree would be very helpful. Content Gap: I assume a content gap means that a large chunk of information about a topic is missing or not thoroughly described, or simply the author went further into detail in other sections than this specific section. Ways They May Arise A content gap may arise because the author is not knowledgable about that specific subset of content or can't find adequate resources to back up their claims. I assume maybe the information could also just be unknown. Author Importance Yes, it matters who writes wikipedia. If someone with malicious intent writes an article and or is trying to persuade the readers to agree with his/her viewpoint than that article is biased. The overall intelligence and credentials of the author, also make difference. Terhaaed (talk) 00:51, 16 February 2017 (UTC) terhaaed[reply]

Project Preferences

[edit]

1. Iguana

https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Iguana

I am most interested in doing my project on an iguana because I feel this is not a typical specimen that one gets to dissect. I think that there is a lot that can be learned from dissecting the iguana and I am interested to see how it would be to dissect a very spiny, scaly creature.

Possible Edits The Anatomy section of the Iguana Page is really all there is and still there is very little information. It highlights about three features of the iguanas anatomy and i think this could be covered in more depth especially after the project.

3.Microbat

https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Talk:Microbat

I would be interested in studying the micro bat because of its use of echolocation through its Pharynx, i find this to be a fascinating feature that I would like to learn more about.

Possible Edits The intro to this page isn't necessarily about the micro bat but instead illuminates what a micro bat no longer is, i think this should be changed. Also it lacks a real anatomy?physiology section.

2.Amia

https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Bowfin

I would be interested in doing my project on the Bowfin because they are the only descendent of a group which dates back to Jurassic times.

Possible Edits Multimodal distribution page is lacking and is a huge part of how bowfin breathe. https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Multimodal_distribution Hypoxia would be an interesting page to do some research on. https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Talk:Hypoxia_(environmental) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Terhaaed (talkcontribs) 19:50, 1 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
