[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the username you have chosen (Teraminer) seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website.

There are two issues with this:

  1. It is possible that you have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, you must exercise great caution when editing on topics related to your organization.
  2. Your account cannot represent a group of people. You may wish to create a new account with a username that represents only you. Alternatively, you may consider changing your username to avoid giving the impression that your personal account is being used for promotional purposes.

Regardless of whether you change your name or create a new account, you are not exempted from the guidelines concerning editing where you have a conflict of interest. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. The article in question is Teradata Warehouse Miner. Thank you. Phearson (talk) 11:52, 31 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Teradata Warehouse Miner has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unreferenced article.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Phearson (talk) 12:02, 31 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because your username, Teraminer, does not meet our username policy.

Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below).

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you feel that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first.

Decline reason:

Despite thefact that the blocking administrator has chosen to give you a block notice that says "Your username is the only reason for this block", that is not, in fact, the only problem. All of your editing seems to have been promotion of Teradata Warehouse Miner, but such promotional editing is contrary to Wikipedia policy. In order to be unblocked, as well as offering a suitable username change, you will need to indicate that you are planning to make edits that are not promotional, and not on a subject in which you have a conflict of interest. I am in for improving Wikipedia's coverage & not promotional reasons

[edit]

In reply to user:JamesBWatson,

The main reason for joining Wikipedia is not for promoting specific products. I am here for developing Wikipedia articles related to computer science, databases and data mining in order to improve Wikipedia's coverage in those topics.

The reasons I have been adding articles related to Teradata only is because I have been using it lately and I have been visiting pages like [spatial database] which did not have coverage of this solution. This made me take the decision to join Wikipedia and start editing for this solution as an initiative to improve Wikipedia's coverage (leading to completeness of Wikipedia's articles)...it doesn't mean it is the only reason I have joined Wikipedia, however, that was only the spark of my motivation.

Concerning my edits, they have all been unbiased (non-promotional in a sense that I am not advocating for the product...but contrary to that the pages I created and my edits where unbiased and non-promotional at all...without using promotional wordings but instead scientific covereage). It was only that Teradata is badly covered in Wikipedia which caused my edits be for Teradata only...but this was only a coincidence and doesn't mean I am not in for editing more topics unrelated to Teradata. I can't prove this now because I am currently blocked and can't edit anything...plus, I didn't find an article yet which I have something new to add.

As for the references, I have added webpage links to all the pages so I don't know why they were refuse and flagged as unreferrenced or notability issues or spam (I didn't know that I have to use ["< ref >" all the time and can use "[ [...] ]" references instead. Plus, I don't realise how spam can be complete Wikipedia pages and non-promotional edits?!)

I will be willing to add references to my pages after getting edit permissions again.

As for my affiliations, I am currently utilising Teradata solutions in my university research so I am interested in this solution. However, Teradata is already available on Wikipeida and I wanted to enhance its information on Wikipedia.

All in all, I am not happy about my experience with Wikipedia till now and if you still disagree with my opinion then you can delete my account and pages as you may wish...

Thank you.

Hello, Amsguc

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Kudpung and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I’ve proposed an article that you started, Meeza, for deletion because it meets one of the relevant criterion. The particular issue can be located in the notice, that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to prevent the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click the Publish changes button.

But, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the raised issues. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Kudpung}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

@Kudpung: It is nice to meet you too! :-) I followed your guidelines and proposed fix for the page. I explained the reasons and rationale for writing this article at the talk page of the article Talk:Meeza. I didn't remove the {{Multiple issues|{{coi|date=December 2019}}{{advert|date=December 2019}}}} part from the page as I'm not sure if I should do so or not.
