Hi Tennisbuff. Re: your question on my Talk page - where did you get the information about Gledden's date of birth and his family details? You obviously obtained them from somewhere. We need to know these sort of personal facts are in the public domain, before they can be added to Wikipedia.
For guidance on adding inline citations, you could have a look at Help:Footnotes. Otherwise you could use your own simple method, for example numbering your sources and adding the equivalent numbers, in brackets, at the appropriate places in your article text.
As the message on the article says, the fundamental problem at the moment is the lack of evidence that Gledden has been more than briefly mentioned in reliable news coverage (I expect when he was interviewed on the TV he would have been talking about Marray, rather than himself).
If you have any further questions, please add them here and I'll keep and eye on your Talk page. Sionk (talk) 11:57, 16 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately I've had to remove the personal details about Gledden and his alleged family from your article. There is no reliable proof that these people are related to Gledden. It seems you may have gleaned this information from personal knowledge (which Wikipedia calls original research and forbids). Wikipedia also has strict guidance on what private information can or cannot be published about living people. I think you should concentrate on providing proof for the claims in your article, for example "John is the only Tennis Coach to have coached individually a Wimbledon Men's Title winner since 1936" Sionk (talk) 13:30, 18 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You have improved the article but there are other issues that haven't been addressed such attaching the references with the information. This helps viewers know what references support what. As I mentioned at the AfC submission page, if you need help with adding ref tags, visit this page. If you need additional help, contact me at my talk page. SwisterTwister talk 20:32, 25 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Adding to my message above, the page of articles awaiting submission you are referring to is Category:Pending AfC submissions. SwisterTwister talk 06:39, 5 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Janet. Whilst I'd love to help you out with this, it doesn't appear as though any of the sources you've provided are available online. I've searched for quite a few, and come up with nothing. To be certain, I also ran some searches independently (for "John Gledden", "John Gledden" + tennis, "John Gledden" + diabetes, "Gledden, John" and a few others), both through web generally, via Google's news archive service and through HighBeam Research - I didn't find anything that would be useable (his son Josh might have enough for an article, though). There's nothing wrong with using offline sources, but since I can't view them, I don't know what they say and thus what information in the article support. Without access to the sources, I can't place them in the text for you, I'm sorry.

To reiterate what I said at the Teahouse: if you have access to the sources, citing them is actually very easy. All you do is find a source that supports a statement in the text, place it immediately after that statement and write "<ref>" in front of it and "</ref>" after it. It looks as though you've already done this for one reference in the second-to-last paragraph. There's already a reflist template in place, so there's no need to worry about the formatting; it will work automatically.

I'm really sorry that I can't be more help, but without the ability to read what's in the sources, I can't do a great deal. If you need advice on formatting and so forth, though, feel free to give me a shout. Cheers, Yunshui  09:30, 5 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for trying. I find it incredibly frustrating that I have on my desk over 100 newspaper and magazine articles that I can site, but because nobody can find them on line, I seem to have wasted 3 months and let my subject down thoroughly. This guy teaches a Wimbledon Champion, which no other Britain has done for 76 years !! and because it was only published in print not online, its not eligible. Wikipedia certainly seems a little of a closed club, which is such a shame. (Tennisbuff12345 (talk) 15:15, 5 October 2012 (UTC))[reply]

You seem to have misunderstood. There is no requirement that sources be available online. What we do need, though, is good solid sourcing. If a statement is based on an article found on page 34, col. 2 of the June 21, 1992 Colorado Spotted Swine Breeders Gazette and Tennis Weekly, then give us the details, thus:

<ref>DeManger, Cunigonde. "British Tennis Coach Startles Wimbledon Crowd." ''Colorado Spotted Swine Breeders Gazette and Tennis Weekly'' June 21, 1992 (vol. 83, no. 25); p. 34, col. 2</ref>. --Orange Mike | Talk 16:19, 9 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

What Mike said. I'm not saying that the sources have to be online to be useable (offline sources are quite acceptable!), just that I can't put them into the article for you because (since I can't access them) I don't know where they should go. Literally all you need to do is copy the references - which you already have - into the body of the article, immediately after the statements that they verify. Then write <ref> immediately before the reference, and </ref> immediately after. Wikipedia's software will do the rest. Yunshui  14:14, 10 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
