Hello Tenmiles, Right I am new to Wikepedia, at least as far as contributing or editing. I wrote something on the Ojai talk page (as you suggested). I would not mind carrying on the discussion. Check me out if you have time. Thank you. --Drew

Original research

[edit]

You might be interested in especially paying attention to Wikipedia's No Original Research Policy. For some reason people have a lot of trouble with this one. Basically it states if you can't cite a source, don't add it to an article. - JustinWick 06:40, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I replied to a question you had there and did what I could to fulfill your request, but another user is just mass deleting content from the article and so, I would be curious what your opinion of the matter is. Thanks. Sincerely, --Le Grand Roi des CitrouillesTally-ho! 17:57, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize for a tardy response; I have been away from Wikipedia for a few days. Your request for my opinion on the matter spurred me to examine the edits made to the Pumpkin Queen article, and then to do a fair bit of reading on both his and your pages. After having done so, my opinion of the matter is that you and Eyrian edit according to fundamentally opposite philosophies. I understand where both of you are coming from, but I would prefer not to side with either of you since you each represent such an extreme end of the spectrum. I recognize the work you put into the article; yet I am still of the personal bias that Sally is not justifiably considered a "Pumpkin Queen" in any respect that would not qualify as original research. I can name at 15 or so people who all call blue cicada nymphs "god bugs", because it's a very insular colloquialism among a group of my friends, for personal reasons. However, I can't take that and use it as support for the argument that blue cicada nymphs are "called god bugs - at least by some fans". I guess that's my stance on the article. As for you and Eyrian, I think you're already doing a decent job just talking about it with each other I'd prefer not to become embroiled in the issues you have taken up with one another. - Tenmiles 18:46, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 20:19, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
