Monument Records

[edit]

You should make sure your edits have proper citations. The simplist way is to add a URL link to a citation and put <ref> before and </ref> coding after the link. Make sure there is a reflist indicator in the references section at the bottom of the article. Steelbeard1 (talk) 02:28, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. Problem is there are few references to cite. I have personal knowledge. Bob Moore was the first person to record Dolly Parton when she was eighteen years old. When Bob Moore left Monument Records, Roy Orbison soon followed. Fred Foster bankrupted the corporation, Dolly Parton bought Monument Records on the IRS Auction block and sold it to Sony. How can I cite references for this? They don't exist. TeenKingTeenking (talk) 06:16, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Google Books is a source for citations. This 1985 example regarding who gets the bankrupt Monument Records is at [1] is one example. Steelbeard1 (talk) 10:37, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, Steelbeard1. Can I add a photo?

Only if the photo is your creation or follows proper fair use rationale. Copyrighted photos are not allowed. Steelbeard1 (talk) 10:28, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Billy Burk

[edit]

Hello Teenking!

Welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your recent contribution to Ozark Jubilee. I wonder if you would be good enough, however, to provide a reference for Billy Burk on the show. While he may have appeared, I have never seen his name in any of the many references cited in the article.

In response to your question above on how to cite references for personal knowledge, while I certainly appreciate it and while it is obviously valuable, it is contrary to a core content policy of Wikipedia called "No original research". This is one of three core content policies, along with Neutral point of view and Verifiability, that jointly determine the type and quality of material that is acceptable in articles.

Please don't take offense, as none is meant; I welcome new additions to the cadre of performers but also want to ensure accuracy. I look forward to your response.

Thank you, and welcome once again. RadioBroadcast (talk) 03:48, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your help, RadioBroadcast. My husband was in the original band. How about if I let Red Foley introduce Billy Burk via this video link? Red Foley wouldn't misrepresent his band members. He was a good man. [1] Billy Burk was one of the greatest jazz musicians/accordian players EVER. Now at 85 years old, Billy Burk still plays the heck out of the vibes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yT9liAmrdA

Orphaned non-free media (File:Only_The_Lonely_Bob_Moore_Orchestra.JPG)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Only_The_Lonely_Bob_Moore_Orchestra.JPG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 19:33, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm having a terrible time trying to figure how to cite references. If I add a producer/musician to a page, must I build them a Wikipedia page in order that I may cite it?

The edit was to the Garpax Records article and what was deleted was material not related whatsoever to the record label called Garpax which was founded by Gary S. Paxton. The Garpax name was derived from his name. Steelbeard1 (talk) 14:56, 8 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I know Gary Paxton and share publishing with Garpax. That's why I was curious. He's brilliant. So are you! Thanks. TeenkingTeenking (talk) 20:24, 8 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm having a hard time figuring out how to amend Wikipedia pages. Most of my contributions are from personal knowledge and the information has never been published. It's hard to cite sources when facts have never appeared previously in print. Am I going to have to write the book so I can cite myself? ~ TeenKing
