Welcome

[edit]

Hello, TeamWetware and welcome to Wikipedia! It appears you are participating in a class project. If you haven't done so already, we encourage you to go through our training for students. Go through our online training for students

If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Please also read this helpful advice for students.

Before you create an article, make sure you understand what kind of articles are accepted here. Remember: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and while many topics are encyclopedic, some things are not.

Your instructor or professor may wish to set up a course page, and if your class doesn't already have one please tell your instructor about that. It is highly recommended that you place this text: {{Educational assignment}} on the talk page of any articles you are working on as part of your Wikipedia-related course assignment. This will let other editors know this article is a subject of an educational assignment and aid your communication with them.

We hope you like it here and encourage you to stay even after your assignment is finished! Drmies (talk) 00:44, 22 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on User:TeamWetware requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, and/or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free web hosting service. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. — fortunavelut luna 03:51, 22 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy or request a change of username.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Thank you. 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 03:53, 22 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

User name and account(s)

[edit]

Please note that multiple people sharing an account is not allowed per the Wikipedia:Username policy (read first sentence). I apologize for this, because I see this is for an education assignment, and I encourage your participation here. Please have each member of your group register for individual accounts. You may set up a sandbox in any of the accounts where you may share information such as you have placed on your user page. If you have any questions, please contact me, and I'll do my very best to help out. 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 03:58, 22 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

Hi, sorry for the confusion! The assignment is to simply have a Wikipedia page in which we upload information about our course and our experiences throughout the course. We are working in groups, but within the groups only one "developer" is chosen. I named this Team Wetware because that is our group name but I see the confusion now. I am the only one that is editing this Wiki Account. TeamWetware (talk) 04:17, 22 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Procedural decline. See below. Vanjagenije (talk) 21:16, 29 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • An account by that name already exists, so please amend the above request and choose another one (you can use the "account availability check" link to check if it is free). Having said that, there might be another problem. You say "The assignment is to simply have a Wikipedia page in which we upload information about our course and our experiences throughout the course". That makes it sound like what you want is a blog or a social media account, and that's not what Wikipedia is for. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and Wikipedia accounts are for volunteers who want to help us build that encyclopedia. Does any part of your course involve actually expanding Wikipedia's encyclopedia content in any way? Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 06:49, 22 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on your user page, User:TeamWetware, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be blatant advertising which only promotes or publicises a company, product, group or service. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
