Texas Maritime Academy

Hello, Tannerbond. Welcome to Wikipedia. I watch maritime academy wikipedia pages and I noticed your recent edits to Texas Maritime Academy-related pages. Your effort to include information on wikipedia is commendable. All editors started off as new editors. While I know your edits are well-meaning, many of them are not in keeping with wikipedia policies & standards. Don't be disappointed; Wikipedia takes a little time to learn. Here are a couple pointers to get you started in the right direction:

It's best to start editing on existing pages. Start with tweaking small things here and there, such as typos, misspellings, etc. Then you'll find an article that could use an additional sentence or two. It builds from there.
Creating new articles is a detailed process. The links found above in the welcome by BlueAg09 are a great introduction to the very particular styling wikipedia articles have. (This relates to the article you started at Hearn's Guard.)
Wikipedia has policies on what topics can have a Wikipedia article. See WP:NOTE. This basically says that the subject of an article has to have been the subject of commentary by a secondary source, such as significant coverage in a regional newspaper, television, etc. People directly associated with an organization should not start an article on that organization. (This relates to the article you started at Hearn's Guard.)
When you add content related to Texas Maritime Academy, it would be best to add it to the Texas A&M University at Galveston article. If over time there is enough content to justify a Texas Maritime Academy article, you can propose that the page be split. The page at Texas Maritime should be a redirect to Texas A&M University at Galveston.

Hearn's Guard

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Hearn's Guard, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Hearn's Guard. You removed the "PROD" deletion notice from the article, but you did not explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion as the template asks you to do. Making drastic changes to Wikipedia articles without discussing your actions is not how Wikipedia articles are edited.
