Technical query

[edit]

When I try to cite a reference more than twice within an article (James Ruse Agricultural High School), the article's page cuts in the preview and after I've saved the article right after the 3rd cite. The reference I'm trying to cite is labelled 'ref name="JR2006"'; I've kept it as it was w/o trying to add the additional citations, and I'm not sure what to do about this problem. The failed edit version is version '18:08 August 9'.

I can't figure out how to explain what you need to do, so I'll go ahead and give you one example; I reverted to your version where you added the cites, and fixed one tag with a trailing slash "/". Without that, the tag never closes. Which I hope makes sense. It's like... have you ever missed a closing quote with a href=""? It's like that. Anyway, without that extra slash, the tag won't realize it's closed. Make sense? Luna Santin 08:14, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Better yet, see Wikipedia:Footnotes for a more coherent explanation. :) Luna Santin 08:16, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I only fixed the first one -- I can do the others, if you like, but that seems to rob you of a chance to do it yourself. ;) If you need help, let me know. Luna Santin 08:59, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hm, that's tricky, then. The next thing that comes to mind is a browser cache issue, where you might be loading an old version of the page; you can either force a reload (usually shift or ctrl + F5) or click this link to do the same. Hope that helps; more than meets the eye, here, it seems. Luna Santin 22:41, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits to July 25

[edit]

Hi Tankman182, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thanks for your recent contributions to July 25. However, many of the people you added to the page do not yet have Wikipedia articles, so the links you made were "red" (leading nowhere). It is a general policy on the Wikicalendar pages not to have redlinks included among the births and deaths, so please check whether the person has a page before adding their name to a calendar page. You could always create articles for these folks, and then add them to July 25 or another Wikicalendar page :). Thanks again, and let me know on my talk page if you have any questions.
