Cairrrrrrrrroli

WP:OWN be damned, I still feel a somewhat protective possessiveness (or a possessive protectiveness?) of "my" articles -- that is, the ones that I started. Like Charlie Cairoli.

That said, thank you for expanding it so much. You're doing a great job. DS (talk) 13:17, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

Amounderness

Thanks for applying the book templates to the references I added--I find them bewildering. However, is that really how one does an article within a volume? It looks confusing to me. I'm referring to the 2 articles from different volumes of the Proceedings of the Historical Society of Lancs. and Cheshire. Is that the way Wikipedia wants that done, with the article title after the book title? Those 2 guys didn't write the entire book in either case. (I'm not sure whether you can see them in Google Books as I can--I'm in the US and I understand Google Books doesn't work in the UK.) Yngvadottir (talk) 08:57, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Torcida

I have noticed you removed my edits from this article and, though I really regret using bebo.com, I don't think all my contribution should be entirely reverted. I did not provide references for the meaning of "torcer", but they are plenty, like this one (http://dictionary.reverso.net/portuguese-english/torcer). Could we reach an agreement so that my edits can be partially restored? jggouvea (talk) 00:55, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

Football Hooliganism

OK, no problem, thanks for the clarification. Pexise (talk) 19:25, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Hi, I've semi-protected the article for one month due to the excessively disuptive editing by the IP. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 01:15, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

All part of the service. :) It's regrettable as we get a lot of IPs who edit footballing articles and do so responsibly but that kind of disruptive editing is not acceptable. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 01:32, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Hi i see you have made alot of contributions to the Veterans day article in the past year. I was wondering if you knew any more about the upcoming Armed Forces Day? I was under the impression that Armed Forces Day was replacing the fairly new veterans day but from whats said on the article currently and at Armed Forces Day#United Kingdom it sounds as thought they are two different events that will just be held on the same day. Proposed deletion of Dominic Merella

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Dominic Merella, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Player fails WP:ATHLETE as he has never played in a fully-pro league or cup competition; his sole appearance in the FA Cup for a professional team came against semi-pro opponents.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. I surprised myself and worked out the issue. - Dudesleeper / Talk 18:10, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

Hello, thanks for adding all the detail to the Sarah Myerscough article I created. It must have taken some time to go through her website for the information you added. I am relatively new to Wikipedia, so I was trying to be very careful in only adding content that was verifiable from third parties, with only occasional reference to the Sarah Myerscough website. I was surprised therefore that you added so much content from her personal website and referenced it a further six times, but then labelled the article as being based too much on Primary Sources. I'm not sure that some of the content you added is verifiable except by her personal website. Also, where did you obtain the information that she was born in Thornton-Cleveleys?

I have some more references that might be of use, but I had refrained from using them for various reasons:

  • TV Appearance: How to light up Blackpool - BBC News Channel (28/08/2008) - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7585066.stm - Not added as I hadn't had chance to review it all
  • TV Appearances: Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen Decodance Feature - The One Show, BBC (29/08/2007 and 31/08/2007) - http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b007xrlr and http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b007xrm7 - Not added as sadly the aired programmes are not avaiable on-line. Needed to look up Wikipedia policy.
  • Giving talent top ride on the Prom - Blackpool Evening Gazette article - 22/10/2004 (Author: Robin Duke) - Not added as not on-line and unsure of page numbers or protocol for adding newspaper articles.

Rather than my editing the article directly, could you perhaps advise on how to apply these or apply them yourself and I'll observe and learn.

As I said though, for some of the things you've written, I'm not sure whether other sources exist. In cases of simply backing up what she has worked on, the Sarah Myerscough website itself would appear to be a good source as it features photographs of her as an artist at work on the features in question. However, that is not true for everything.

Apologies also for the name. I had originally named the article as Sarah Myerscough (Artist) as although there was no other Wikipedia article of her name, I wasn't sure that there weren't other noteworthy Sarah Myerscoughs in existence. For example, there is a Sarah Myerscough Fine Art Gallery in London (http://www.sarahmyerscough.com). Additionally, I had seen articles about other artists that used (Artist) in the title.

I should probably stress again that I am new to Wikipedia. I hope this does not offend. I just want to learn more about the process from someone who is clearly a regular contributor. TheBozzMan (talk) 20:04, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

In the second paragraph of his career section, a sentence begins and ends with "John Gregory". It seems to be an edit gone awry at some point. If, unlike me at present, you have a chance, would you mind seeing if you can find the root of the issue? Thanks in advance! - Dudesleeper / Talk 10:40, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
