Redirects and page creation
[edit]Hello. The page you have recently tried to edit, Wikipedia:PUBLICFIGURE, is a redirect (see Wikipedia:Redirect). A redirect is a page that automatically takes the reader to a differently-titled page, relevant to the redirect title. In this case the redirect is actually a special kind of redirect, a Wikipedia:Shortcut, that redirects to a section of Wikipedia policy. See that in this case, clicking on Wikipedia:PUBLICFIGURE redirects to Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons#Public figures. Redirects work like a type of navigation aid, as they help users find their way around the site.
If you are interested in creating a new article, then Help:Your first article might be a good read before you attempt to do one of the most challenging things for a newer editor. Keep in mind that many new editors make the mistake of jumping straight into the task of creating an article. That's fine, but just to forewarn, the fail rate pretty high in this situation. I would suggest making some small edits to existing articles you're interested in for a while. This will give you a feel for how WP works.
Hope I've been of some help. Good luck and have a great day! --DB1729 (talk) 17:56, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
