[edit]

An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Image:MKDE_server.png, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Non-free use disputed for Image:Btrieve_living_legend_tshirt.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Btrieve_living_legend_tshirt.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted after seven days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Calliopejen1 02:47, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

For your outstanding work on USA PATRIOT Act I award you this barnstar. Jeff Dahl 04:39, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks re: Patriot Intro

[edit]

Just got your note about the Patriot rewrite. Nice work. Thanks for your kind words about the work I did on the intro. Small contribution compared to what you did, but nice of you to say. Enjoy your wikibreak. --Mackabean 05:24, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Penguin sweater

[edit]

I did some minor updates on this, including a link to the song Sweaters for Penguins, that links to a relevant BBC news article from 2000.Pustelnik 19:30, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations on the birth of your article

[edit]

Just chanced on your note at Wikipedia:Wikipedia_Signpost/Newsroom/Suggestions#Complete rewrite of the USA PATRIOT Act completed... as I was reading I thought - this is familiar... then remembered our conversation at the Sydney Wikipedia Meetup. Good work, and hope all is well. Hope parenthood is blissful enough to make up for the lost sleep. --Chriswaterguy talk 16:00, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Michelle Merkin POTD

[edit]

Per your post here and in case you were not aware, there is a discussion on Image:Michele Merkin 1.jpg at the admin noticeboard. -- Jreferee t/c 21:39, 2 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You were right about moving the discussion to Wikipedia talk:Picture of the day/Michelle Merkin POTD. Good job. -- Jreferee t/c 14:21, 3 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Userpage

[edit]

Nothing to worry about. I've yet to find anything useful to put on my userpage, so I blank it occasionally, and delete the history every once in a while as well. Ral315 » 03:30, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

[edit]

...for writing that. I really don't consider that a "problem" between us. Happy editing! >Radiant< 12:01, 11 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:John Brogden.jpg

[edit]
Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:John Brogden.jpg. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Remember the dot (talk) 05:19, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikiworld comic

[edit]

I do hope you have seen Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/2007-11-12/WikiWorld :-) --Golden Wattle talk 23:36, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Are you kidding? That MFD was open for an hour and thirty-four minutes!!! I was in the process of submitting "delete" or something close to it, and you closed it. I urge you to undo the "speedy keep" and at least let some users comment. Please.--12 Noon 03:55, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but it's ridiculous that this got put on MFD in the first place. That page has been around and useful for Wikimeetups for as long as I've been on this site (over 4 years now). I have fixed the objections to the article: firstly, the name was misleading. It's not a Facebook, so have moved it to a more appropriate name. Secondly, I have permanently semi-protected and have it on my watchlist. Should an editor add an image of someone other than themselves, I shall investigate. - Ta bu shi da yu 03:57, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. if this is a sock-puppet account, I don't have a problem if you use it for copyediting. I do have a big problem with you participating in MFD/AFD/etc. Use your main account please. - Ta bu shi da yu 03:59, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, but the whole point of MfD is to discover if it actually is worth-while. By eliminating open debate, you have inadvertently deprived the community of due process. And it also suggests an aura of arrogance by saying "it's ridiculous that this got put on MFD in the first place". And to state that you will monitor it and investigate when appropriate seems a bit presumptuous, unless that is common practice in certain situations in which case I strike this sentence. If you have faith that the page is worth-while then I respectfully request you let due process run its course. What happens if the page is re-nominated tomorrow? To me, it came across as unreasonable to close it so quickly with only one user adding a comment. Please reconsider.
(As for my account, this one has become my main account, and meets all of the requirements of an alternate account. I only use my other account to do templates and non-controversial, non-opinionated editing in areas of interest that can be connected to me in the real world. This account is used for expressing opinions and suffering the wrath of vandals. This is all permissible, and off-topic.) Regards.--12 Noon 04:27, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hehe. OK, now I know. :) Resurgent insurgent (as admin) 07:45, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

huh.

[edit]

Well, nothing personal, but it sure looked like POINT to me. I trust you won't be needing the account. Feel free to unblock it if you do. ··coelacan 08:13, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

DRV note

[edit]

An editor has asked for a deletion review of Wikipedia:Facebook. Since you closed the deletion discussion for this article or speedy-deleted it, you might want to participate in the deletion review. Metros 11:37, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Joking?

[edit]

No, i was not joking. The article doesnt seem that important to Education in Australia as a whole? I couldnt find anything to like warrant a higher importance rating (eg. first private school in aus or something). The project simply isnt about Australian schools, its about education as a whole. What does this school do that separates it from other schools in Australia. The article doesnt really assert it. FYI: one school in Australia (so far) has been given a rating above low. Eagerly awaiting your reply. Twenty Years 12:36, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits

[edit]

Hi Ta bu shi da yu. Is everything OK? You inappropriately closed an MfD[1], then created a sockpuppet/inappropriate alternate account[2] to challenge the MfD nomintors signing as [[User:The Parsnip!|Nobody of consequence]] If User:The Parsnip! is doing things below board, I would be more than happy to help you address it. However, your present approach might not be the most effective way to deal with things and were somewhat surprising to me. If I can assist in anyway, please let me know. Best. -- Jreferee t/c 15:48, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I concur with Jreferee. You've been around the longest of all the admins I know but that speedy close and the AN/I thread ain't helping. Lastly I opened a new MfD for WP:Facebook here since the DRV consensus was clear for doing so. Awyong Jeffrey Mordecai Salleh 01:44, 16 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop with the cross posting of your notice of the discussion to every talk page of every user in the "Facebook." This is wholly inappropriate and reeks of further wp:point disruption. Metros 02:45, 16 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If your aggressive canvassing continues, I will block you for this to prevent further point-y actions. Over the last 24 hours, your behavior has been unacceptable and needs to stop. Metros 02:51, 16 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I do not see how this is a violation of WP:POINT. Awyong Jeffrey Mordecai Salleh 02:54, 16 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Because instead of consensus we're gaining vote-stacking. This is clearly canvassing by Ta bu shi da yu to try to sway the !vote in his side's favor. Metros 03:00, 16 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I am quite happy to inform those who oppose Wikipedia:Facebook of the impending deletion. Please give me a list of names and I'll do so. - Ta bu shi da yu 03:02, 16 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've blocked you for 1 hour to get you attention...you're violating WP:CANVASS, which is basically a big no-no when it comes to XfDs or any consensus discussions. nat Alo! Salut! Sunt eu, un haiduc?!?! 03:23, 16 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Nice. Welcome to the world of POV-pushers! Bah. - Ta bu shi da yu 03:27, 16 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
