March 2008

Hi, the recent edit you made to List of songs in Rock Band has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thanks. Will (talk) 19:46, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

No they were not!

Hello TRTX. It seems that you are not familiar with Wikipedia:Vandalism as you sent a message on my talk page stating that i made unconstructive edits to Power Rangers. No i did not, so i want you to read what vandalism really is. Mythdon (talk) 04:38, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

  • Your post was not marked as vandalism. It was undone because it provided an insufficient edit summary while delete a reference/verified change. TRTX (talk) 04:47, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
The edit summary has nothing to do with whether the edit should be undone or reverted. Stop telling me my edit was unconstructive. Mythdon (talk) 04:49, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

Purple and White Jungle Fury Rangers.

I would like you to please stop adding the Purple and White colors to the Power Rangers colors section. We will wait until those characters appear in the show. Mythdon (talk) 20:15, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

I have placed my reasoning for the change in the talk page. I have made more than one request for clarification and have seen nothing other than an unspecificed preference to wait. Please read WP:Spoiler for more information, as I feel that is the only logical reason for waiting for such an update. TRTX (talk) 20:17, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
Don't even bring spoiler into this. This about consensus. It appears to me that the consensus of the other users shows that they prefer to wait until those characters actually appear in the show. I know you are just trying to help Wikipedia out, but i would also like you to stop this as the consensus of the other users shows the we should wait. Mythdon (talk) 20:35, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
You can't use consensus to break Wikipolicy. In this case WP:V and WP:NPOV. If there's a legitimate consensus as to why this is being done I'd like to hear it. I requested one more than a week ago and have yet to see a response. TRTX (talk) 22:02, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
Im not using consensus to break any policy. Im just saying that the consensus of the users shows that we should wait until those characters appear in the series. You got it?. Mythdon (talk) 22:09, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
Are you reading the links I've provided? If I start a page about candy bars and all editors agree that M&M was created by Nintendo of Japan, that doesn't make it accurate, or verifiable. TRTX (talk) 22:12, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
This is not what i mean. What i mean is the consensus of Power Rangers shows that we should wait until those two Rangers actually appear in the series. You are also not listening to me. Mythdon (talk) 22:17, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

Ettiquette Query

How is my etiquette bad?. I see no reason why you should have reported me at Wikipedia:Wikiquette alerts. Also, telling me to stop editing your user page is a violation of WP:UP#OWN (i messed up when i had you see WP:OWN, i have to admit). Mythdon (talk) 05:54, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

For as often as you cite Wikipolicy, it seems you often ignore very obvious statements.
  • "In general it is considered polite to avoid substantially editing another's user page without their permission." - Which you did not get. And I would say a redirect is fairly substantial, as it makes the userpage unaccessible.
  • "Other users may object and ask you not to edit their user pages, and it is probably sensible to respect their requests." - Which you did not.
  • "The best option is to draw their attention to the matter on their talk page and let them edit their user page." - I didn't find out my user page had been edited until I tried to access it and was continually redirected.
  • "This should not be done for trivial reasons." - My Talk page is readily available in my signature.
Read those lines above, specifically noting the bolded portions and you'll see where I built my complaint. You made the change without informing me, without providing a reason, and then repeated the change I when reverted it and requested you not do it again. I didn't have a problem the first time because yes, I had not made any specific comment. But the second time, combined with the abrasive edit summary seemed more that the change was made out of spite regarding changes in an unrelated article. TRTX (talk) 12:57, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

But WP:UP#OWN states this;

As a tradition, Wikipedia offers wide latitude to users to manage their user space as they see fit. However, pages in user space still do belong to the community:

  • Contributions must be licensed under the GFDL, just as articles are.
  • Other users may edit pages in your user space, although by convention your user page will usually not be edited by others.
  • Community policies, including Wikipedia:No personal attacks, apply to your user space just as they do elsewhere. Article content policies such as WP:OR generally do not.
  • In some cases, material that does not somehow further the goals of the project may be removed (see below), as well as edits from banned users.
You don't need to prove to me that users are occasionally allowed to edit another user's page. I acknowledged that in my response above.
  • "I didn't have a problem the first time because yes, I had not made any specific comment."
However, while you were able to demonstrate an ability to quote policy, I don't think you've demonstrated an ability to understand the policy. Those bullet points you made are handy, and I saw them when reading WP:OWN. However, you failed to take notice of the paragraph directly below it, which starts off (and this is repeated from above):
  • "In general it is considered polite to avoid substantially editing another's user page without their permission." - Which you did not get. And I would say a redirect is fairly substantial, as it makes the userpage unaccessible.
It then provides an excellent summary of the appropriate process to follow if you wish to edit another user's page. None of which you followed. TRTX (talk) 18:50, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

Also, stop making such a big out of the edit i did to your user page. Mythdon (talk) 18:15, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

Big deal? I reverted the edit the first time and politely asked you not to do it. I was done with it at that point. It wasn't until you repeated the edit and left the rude summary that I asked for assistance. Furthermore, you posted here to ask me to explain my reasoning for the alert. I did so, and provided some clear examples directly citing the very article and section you referenced. At this point, there's nothing more that I can say to you that won't be repeating myself. Please reread my comments here as well as the quotes I posted, if at that point you still don't understand what I'm trying to say there is nothing further I can do. TRTX (talk) 18:50, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
You should also know that redirecting your userpage does not make your userpage unacessible. I see that you are ignoring the fact that Wikipedia states in one of its policys that "your userpage is not yours". Mythdon (talk) 07:56, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
