Welcome to Wikipedia!

[edit]

Dear TMNT Donatello: Welcome to Wikipedia, a free and open-content encyclopedia. I hope you enjoy contributing. To help get you settled in, I thought you might find the following pages useful:

Don't worry too much about being perfect. Very few of us are! Just in case you are not perfect, click here to see how you can avoid making common mistakes.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

Wikipedians try to follow a strict policy of never biting new users. If you are unsure of how to do something, you are welcome to ask a more experienced user such as an administrator. One last bit of advice: please sign any discussion comment with four tildes (~~~~). The software will automatically convert this into your signature which can be altered in the "Preferences" tab at the top of the screen. I hope I have not overwhelmed you with information. If you need any help just let me know. Once again welcome to Wikipedia, and don't forget to tell us about yourself and be BOLD! --omtay38 02:57, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Help is here

[edit]

Hello, you used the {{helpme}} tag. How may I help you? When you've asked your question, please put the tag back so we know to check back. Alternatively, you can join the Wikipedia Bootcamp IRC channel to get real-time help. (Use the web-based client to get instant access.) - Tangotango 06:17, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, that page couldn't be moved anyway as the destination page already existed. I've merged the two histories of the two pages, and the new page is available at Vector the Crocodile. Cheers, Tangotango 07:03, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Possible impersonation

[edit]

Hi, TMNT Donatello. Someone with the IP 67.181.191.64 signed your username to Wikipedia:Requested moves. If this is an impersonator, I suggest asking him or her to stop. If he or she does not stop, let me or another administrator know. -- Kjkolb 07:14, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No trouble. :-) Kjkolb 07:00, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Question about splitting articles

[edit]

Hi! Replacing a redirect with an article is fine - don't worry, you won't get warned or blocked for that :) However, do bear in mind the notability of the characters you are dealing with - if a redirect's history shows that it once used to be an article, that might mean someone considered the character not notable enough to have its own article. Cheers, Tangotango 16:07, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Can you tell me which article you tried that on? If possible, please give me a diff so that I can figure out exactly what happened. Cheers, Tangotango 04:18, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Vector_on_Sonic_Channel.PNG. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

Orphaned non-free image (Image:TMNT Arcade Level 3 Boss.PNG)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:TMNT Arcade Level 3 Boss.PNG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 07:54, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Simpsons Arcade Bonus Stage.PNG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Simpsons Arcade Bonus Stage.PNG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 07:02, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Image:TMNT Hyperstone Heist Title.PNG requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I6 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free image with no fair use rationale uploaded after May 4, 2006 which has been tagged as not having a rationale for more than 7 days.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[Talk:Image:TMNT Hyperstone Heist Title.PNG|the article's talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. - Master Bigode from SRK.o//(Talk) (Contribs) 15:13, 15 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:TMNT Arcade Rocksteady and Bebop Fight.PNG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:TMNT Arcade Rocksteady and Bebop Fight.PNG. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Cirt (talk) 11:13, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
