Thanks for uploading Image:MICU final.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}. If you have not already done so, please also include the source of the image. In many cases this will be the website where you found it.

Please specify the copyright information and source on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. In regards to your edits to cystic fibrosis and lung transplantation,

Welcome

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. --ArmadilloFromHellGateBridge 18:18, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not edit User pages of others. To leave someone a message, use their User talk page, in this case User talk:ImmortalGoddezz. -- Fan-1967 18:31, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

... and by the way, I (and I suspect most editors here) am inclined to agree that your wholesale addition of self-promoting links constitute spamming. Fan-1967 18:32, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Warning

[edit]

Please stop blanking this page and removing the warnings. Also stop the massive additions of self-promotional spam links or you will be blocked from editing. --ArmadilloFromHellGateBridge 18:38, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits

[edit]

Personal vs. business self-promotion is a meaningless distinction. Clearly, your edits are not in any way intended to benefit Wikipedia, but are for the purposes of advertising your institution. Should Lung transplantation contain a link from every single hospital that performs them? No. They would overwhelm the article. Should it contain a link to just one? No. Is your hospital somehow unique in performing them? No. Inappropriate link, repeated dozens of times.

We know spam when we see it. We see it here. Fan-1967 18:59, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits

[edit]

Hello, and thank you for editing Wikipedia! Some editors have expressed concern over your addition of external links. In particular, you may be unwittingly violating our guidelines on spam, external links, and conflicts of interest. It would be a good idea to review these guidelines before adding more external links. We welcome any content you can provide. Thanks! --Ginkgo100 talk 19:16, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Stop linking to medical pages

[edit]

Come on, your hospital may be a wonderful institution but you wouldn't expect to see links to every hospital in the world on over twenty different medical articles, as your edit history suggests. Please don't add inappopriate external links, they will be reverted, and your account will eventually be blocked if you continue to ignore warnings provided. Cheers ! Budgiekiller 19:17, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Again, they were not inappropriate, as they were entirely informational. If you are going to take those links down, I would hope that you will also be moderating the other links, some of which were in the exact same format and relevance as my own. Just as I thought my link was appropriate, I left theirs in the list, too. At least be equal opportunity moderators. And, as I said, are you really going to withhold information for patients and families? Make a list of such hospitals, by all means. But don't withhold information from those who need it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by St. Louis Children's Hospital (talkcontribs)
Okay, let's do a deal. If you add St. Louis Children's Hospital to every medical procedure performed there, please link every other hospital that performs such a procedure as well. If St. Louis Children's Hospital is particularly notable for certain procedures, then by all means link it in with appropriate citations, but in the mean time, you should expect all your current style of editing to be reverted by the reasonable number of editors who are trying to explain to you why your edits are inappropriate. Feel free to get in touch if you need further explanation. Cheers! Budgiekiller 19:26, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
We can't have a link to every single hospital that performs a procedure. If some other links are there that shouldn't be, it's unavoidable. Many people add links that don't get noticed. When you start linking wholesale dozens of time, you get noticed. Fan-1967 19:30, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, well put it this way. Wikipedia (the English version) will be in constant use over the English speaking world. That includes locations outside St Louis. So anyone looking up a particular medical issue throughout the English speaking world will end up with lots of good Wikipedia information, and a link to your hospital in St Louis. Do you see why your link here isn't very useful to 99.99999% of readers? The reason your links are considered spam is that they are located in inappropriate places. If there was an article such as "Health care in St Louis" then your link would doubtless be useful and encouraged. However, there are tens of thousands of hopsitals world-wide that have treatment centres for epilepsy, cystic fibrosis and asthma. I cannot understand why you believe that linking to your hospital alone in articles such as this is reasonable. However, I most certainly believe in WP:AGF and that's why you've been given a lot of good advice instead of being provided with vandal warnings, which would culminate in your account being blocked. Again, if I can be of any further service, don't hesitate to get in touch. Budgiekiller 19:39, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
External links in articles should be to sources which provide more information about the actual subject. The eight links in Kidney transplantation are to pages with more extensive information about the procedure. The one you added, on the other hand, was a promotional pages for the specific clinic at SLCH, as is every link you posted. None that I checked had any actual information about the disease or treatmnent that was the subject of the article. Fan-1967 19:48, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Advice

[edit]

People are trying hard not to bite you, but you're giving every encouragement for them to lose their cool and do so. Everyone was a newbie once and we all remember those days when we didn't really understand what Wikipedia is about. You too should reflect on the fact that you're new and try not to buck a system you don't yet know. Read the articles in the welcome message, take some time looking around the 'pedia, have a cup of WP:TEA and you'll soon understand why your well-intentioned but unfortunately misguided edits have been reverted. But do stick around - it seems you have a lot to offer. PS I'm happy to help you with any specific questions. Just click here and fire away. --Dweller 19:53, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Very sound advice...! Budgiekiller 19:57, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
(Reposting my answer here) Hi. I know, it's confusing and a bit bizarre. OK, first up, your user name doesn't help. We get a lot (and I mean a lot) of spam here at WP and editors' antennae are primed for spotting it. From your user name, people will assume you're pushing a WP:POV to get publicity for your hospital. I've just made a similar edit to yours at Lung transplantation. We'll see how it's treated, given that I make no reference to the hospital at all, and have a neutral user name. One more thing (I know it'll seem trivial). Please sign posts on talk pages (like this one) with four "tildes" (ie ~~~~). It'll automatically date and sign your posts. --Dweller 21:10, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
And that particular link, being about the procedure, not the hospital, is a reasonable addition. Fan-1967 21:13, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. If the external links relate directly to the article and not to an organisation directly linked to the editor then their addition is reasonable. Budgiekiller 21:16, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm glad my advice, and the advice of a number of more experienced editors has helped. Don't hesitate to ask more questions, that's why we're here. Cheers! Budgiekiller 22:42, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Glad to be of help. --Dweller 01:22, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

St. Louis Children's Hospital

[edit]

Are you acting as a representative of the hospital? Usernames closely resembling an organization or company are usually discouraged according to Wikipedia's policies on usernames. If you're not authorized to act publicly in the name of the hospital you should probably request to change your username to avoid being blocked.  Anþony  talk  09:50, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
