Proposed deletion of A Haunting (film)
[edit]The article A Haunting (film) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Wikipedia is not a crystal ball, and reliable sources have not been given to establish notability of a film.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. tedder (talk) 21:19, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
A Haunting (film) notability
[edit]Hi SylvioGreene. You gave some rationale for notability of the film, but no reliable sources have been given to establish this notability. Can you find some reliable and verifiable sources to back it up? A quick search didn't turn up any. tedder (talk) 22:01, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
- I'd like to think that the IMDb has some credibility in these matters. SylvioGreene (talk) 22:10, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
- Per Wikipedia:Reliable source examples and Wikipedia:Citing IMDb, you can cite IMDB, but can't use it for notability. This is because it's trivial to create something on IMDB, so it doesn't assert notability. Instead, see WP:GNG: "a topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject". BTW, one option is for me to userify the article. You can then continue to work on it, then move it back to the mainspace when it has satisfied the notability criteria. tedder (talk) 22:15, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
- I don't see why creating something on IMDb is trivial, they won't put anything on there unless it has been accepted into a film festival or is available to the public, which A Haunting is. SylvioGreene (talk) 22:18, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
- That's something you could take up at WP:RSN. However, if that's the only source of claimed notability, it wouldn't met WP:GNG anyhow, and might not meet WP:NF. tedder (talk) 22:20, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
- Well then I suppose we can look into userifying the article. SylvioGreene (talk) 22:25, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
- I'm an admin, I'd be happy to do it. You want me to do it now? tedder (talk) 22:26, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
- I guess so. SylvioGreene (talk) 22:26, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

Done Here it is: User:SylvioGreene/A Haunting (film). When you feel it is ready to go, ask at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Films to confirm the notability so it can be moved back to mainspace. If they don't get back to you, feel free to ask at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Oregon, though it is probably outside our expert area. tedder (talk) 22:37, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
