[edit]Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:
- Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
- With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.
This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Canvassing
[edit]You may not canvass sympathetic votes in a deletion discussion. This can lead to your being blocked from editing. Guy (Help!) 22:49, 27 June 2015 (UTC)
- While canvassing antipathetic votes is allowed - as it has obviously been the case given the whole story, is allowed? I could show there is strong suspicion for that. I applaud : powerful stuff!! But that's OK, I understand your warning and thank you for it! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sylvain.nahas (talk • contribs) 05:51, 28 June 2015 (UTC)
- You have virtually no history on Wikipedia, I am an administrator of around ten years experience with tens of thousands of edits across a wide range of topics. You can ignore my advice, but bear in mind that doing so will likely get you blocked. Guy (Help!) 23:05, 27 June 2015 (UTC)
- Guy, I thought I made it clear I won't ignore your advice and even thank you for taking the pain to give it to me, which I really appreciate! Syl 23:17, 27 June 2015 (UTC)
- Besides I shall add I did not "canvass sympathetic votes" : if you read my message I was careful to stay neutral, just warning him a page he participated into was going to be possibly deleted - I think it should be standard procedure in such a case - but thus letting him the possibility to vote for its deletion! (I have no idea of his personal opinion on the topic) - Syl 23:22, 27 June 2015 (UTC)
- Canvassing involves selecting individuals to solicit input. Posting at noticeboards covers people of all perspectives. Guy (Help!) 23:32, 28 June 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for this explanation. Syl 15:38, 29 June 2015 (UTC)

ANI
[edit]There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. Guy (Help!) 23:31, 28 June 2015 (UTC)
Signatures
[edit]Re this edit (and others).
WP:SIGLINK points out that all user signatures must still include a link to the user or user talk page. I note that you're editing your .sig to shorten it, and it's also removing this link. WP:SIG is worth a read in general, because if you want a custom .sig then you can set this up to be automatic and not have to edit it after every post. Andy Dingley (talk) 15:03, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you Andy! While using WP almost since its creation, I never participated much in its functioning until now. I have loads of stuff to learn, I suspect. Syl (talk) 17:51, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
