Need for DISPLAYTITLE

[edit]

To editor Swpb: Just curious as to why you would introduce an error, which shows up in an error category (Pages with DISPLAYTITLE conflicts) on your user subpage? All the others in the category have been fixed.  Paine  u/c 15:35, 16 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

There is a flaw in the string modules used by template {{delmon}} which causes DISPLAYTITLEs to be carried over to the transcluding page (see https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T140489). This cannot be prevented with the current software/configuration; it must be overridden locally. —swpbT 15:40, 16 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting – I take that to mean that because it has a local bandaid, the software mend has low or no priority?  Paine  u/c 17:31, 16 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I don't pretend to know how the development teams prioritize fixes, but that sounds plausible. —swpbT 22:19, 16 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Goodness! and so sorry – you know so much about stuff so far above my head, I thought you were a dev. Anyway, thank you for the learning experience, swpb!  Paine  u/c 22:11, 17 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

DISPLAYTITLE conflict

[edit]

Hello @Swpb,

The DISPLAYTITLE issue is still present because of the inadvertent transclusion of Contest (novel). Can the delmon call be removed for that so the page isn't added to Category:Pages with DISPLAYTITLE conflicts? I'm not sure if there is another solution. ~ Eejit43 (talk) 21:49, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
