September 2016[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Fiann Paul has been reverted.
Your edit here to Fiann Paul was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL384626B647D1779C, https://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=99A142EAB8F6D06A) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. a sound or video file) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy, as well as other parts of our external links guideline. If the information you linked to is indeed in violation of copyright, then such information should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file, or consider linking to the original.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 15:44, 3 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for October 4[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Fiann Paul, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Smiting (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

ArbCom 2017 election voter message[edit]

Hello, Svedlundp. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Svedlundp. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the article Anders Svedlund, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Cabayi (talk) 19:00, 8 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Cabayi, I would like to inform you that I am not related to Anders Svedlund, and I am not having any promotional intention. The username correspondence is coincidental, just like Tyson may not necessarily mean being related to Neil deGrasse Tyson or Mike Tyson. It is one of many articles I edited. Please help me to understand which parts of the article you consider promotional, and in what way they don't follow the citations and how they should be changed? If the content of the section: Anders Svedlund#Unique approach to expeditions raises concern, it is the most frequently cited fact about Anders Svedlund, and the fact that defines him the best. It is the way he is introduced in the Maritime Museum of Auckland, please google it. Svedlundp (talk) 20:41, 8 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
My apologies. Coincidences do happen. The message above is a template which covers all possibilities.
Some of the article's text ("He cared very little for records", "Anders was a teetotaler and a vegetarian") reads more like something a family member would write, or hagiography, rather than being totally encyclopedic in tone. That, combined with the similar names, was what prompted me to comment.
Final point, if you think there's more to be found on Google to make the case for his notability, please add it to the article.
Hope that helps, Cabayi (talk) 09:11, 9 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion...[edit]

Blanking your talk page can look like you're hiding something, even if there's nothing to hide. H:ARC is preferable. Hope that helps, Cabayi (talk) 17:15, 9 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

When I looked at your page history, I saw that you remove resolved issues, so I did it probably too simplistic way. Could you please send me the code that would work as I seem to not be able to make it work or feel free to revert the deleted posts as now it doesn't allow me to do it either. Svedlundp (talk) 18:01, 9 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Also in case the previous issue was not resolved in your opinion I added the teetotaler information link: http://www.oceanrowing.com/anders_svedlund/press/tales_of_%20great.htm Svedlundp (talk) 18:08, 9 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I've added the latest conversation to an earlier version, and added the code to do the archiving, so everything will get archived eventually. I've also archived the first thread manually to check things out. It's set to keep 4 threads, and to archive threads older than 90 days. So another thread should be archived automatically tonight ~ touch wood.
Sorry my own archiving is a bit messy, some of it is a bit experimental from when I was teaching myself to write & use templates. I should make it more standard.
The items I remove are just newsletters delivered to my talkpage ~ WP:Signpost & Wikipedia:Tech news which aren't "real" conversations. The master copies of the newsletters are elsewhere on the wiki. Happy editing. Cabayi (talk) 23:20, 9 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
