Shlomo ah, I have tagged the current image for speedy deletion. I promise to make an SVG version of the same logo soon.--Rafy talk 18:59, 26 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

 Done--Rafy talk 21:04, 26 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Shlomo ahuno thank you so much for your time, but this logo is not the same as the original logo there are small differences why is that? however this version of the logo is also nice but at the same time its important to have the same logo everywhere and Assyriska BK dosent like it. I have spoken to them so if you can correct this logo and add the original logo it would be great --SuryoyeGBG (talk) 10:52, 27 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I can change the colour shades to correspond with the original ones. The only issue is that I couldn't figure out which sans font is used for "Assyriska" and "Goteborg", so I simply used the original Ubuntu Sans to imitate it. --Rafy talk 14:05, 27 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

But why cant you just upload the original logo? ABK can give permission for the license etc they dont like this one because its modified. I have seen other team sites and they have their own logos, cant we do the same? --SuryoyeGBG (talk) 19:55, 27 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have uploaded another version. They can send permissions to use the original logo at Commons via Commons:OTRS.--Rafy talk 20:22, 27 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This version is also nice I like both versions, but I think ABK want the original version so Im going to tell them to send the permissions, but can you help me upload the original logo when they have send their permission? --SuryoyeGBG (talk) 20:46, 27 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The reason why I uploaded an SVG instead is because you can zoom infinitely without loss in clarity. I could help with uploading the image once the permission is approved. P.S. you could just leave your replies here, I have it on my watchlist. --Rafy talk

I see but if you upload the original logo what is the difference between png, jpeg etc and what is preferred? cant you use SVG when you upload the original logo? I have already send the permisson pattern to ABK they are going to look at it and send it to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org, will it take long time until they have approved it at Commons? --SuryoyeGBG (talk) 21:27, 27 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

png, jpeg, gif... etc, are raster graphics or bitmaps, that is, every pixel is represented by a colour so when you zoom the bit get also zoomed and you get the pixelation effect. SVG is a vector graphics format, so the image is composed of polygons, real fonts... etc, magnifying the image will not affect its quality.--Rafy talk 21:36, 27 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It shouldn't take more than day to get the permission approved, and yes derivatives in other formats are allowed.--Rafy talk 21:37, 27 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Okey I see, thank you for the info. About the license is it these two license ABK must approve? "Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 license and GNU Free Documentation license"? I must also say that I like your last logo its very similar to the original logo but I like yours more because the sans font of "Assyriska" is much nicer on your version --SuryoyeGBG (talk) 05:02, 28 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

They have to approve these licenses in order to be able to upload their logo, by so they give permission to anyone who wants to use the logo and modify it or use it commercially for their own purposes. I tried to immitate their font as much as possible, it looks quite similar but not exactly the same.--Rafy talk 10:25, 28 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

But cant you only approve that the logo can be upload here in Wikipedia and not to give permission to anyone who wants to modify it and use it? because ABK didnt like this modified one that you did and they wanted me to remove it and use the original one --SuryoyeGBG (talk) 11:43, 28 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well, once they approve the above mentioned licenses anyone can make a modified version of the logo. I can replace the one in the article with the one from their website and remove my SVG version. Is that OK?--Rafy talk 11:58, 28 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

They didint like it because they dont want to se several modified logos everywhere, yes but if you add the logo from the website and people can modify it then dont add it and dont remove your SVG version, if not you can add it with the same size like your SVG version. Yesterday I did send them the permission pattern so I dont know if ABK have approve the above license, we will soon find out --SuryoyeGBG (talk) 16:07, 28 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. WP:Fair use images (i.e. non-free and not available at commons) should be kept as small as possible when used in articles.--Rafy talk 20:00, 28 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Okey sounds good, are you going to be able to use same size as your SVG version(150px) or is it much smaller? http://assyriskabk.com/2011/03/04/assyriska-bk-presenterar-en-ny-logga/ --SuryoyeGBG (talk) 14:36, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Ultras Suryoye Göteborg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No indication of notability.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Request reason:

I only restored the article, Sr 76 deleted without any discussions and without any approval, he should be blocked not me! SuryoyeGBG (talk) 14:44, 1 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

After reviewing the sequence of edits, I see no problem with Sr76's original edits. He laid out a clearly articulated set of reasons on the article's talk page. You response was cursory at best; the restrictions on that page will require you to avoid reverting in the future if you are unable to explain yourself in a neutral and logical manner. Based on the request above, which seems to immediately target another editor, it would be unwise to unblock you. That said, this is an easy block to avoid and to have lifted once your understand the issue. Kuru (talk) 15:05, 1 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

When Sr 76 removed those passages, he had previously posted some extensive reasoning about those edits and met no objections, so those were procedurally valid edits. You, on the other hand, knew that your reinsertions would be contentious, and you did not discuss them in advance (except for this one, very unspecific, posting some days ago [1]; nor did you make any attempt at reworking the contentious passages so as to meet any objections others might have about them, rather than wholesale reinserting them, so you were edit-warring. I reminded you about my warning regarding the current zero-tolerance approach to disruptive editing the last time you edited that article; see above. Fut.Perf. 14:57, 1 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No he didint nobody has approved the removal of Parpola and he didint even discuss it at large! he only wants to delete reliable sources about the assyrian name thats obvious and he has been blocked 3 times before by his propaganda on the Assyrian people page

"Penguins53" is also mentioning that on the talkpage!

"@Sr76, you cannot simply delete info from the pages by arguing with yourself and saying "per the talk page." No, no one approved the unnecessary removal of sourced, reliable information. Just because some people who disagree with Parpola criticize him does not make him not credible. You should revert your edits. Why did you block me

[edit]

@Fut.Perf.: Why did you block me? I only restored "S 76" who was deleting a source! he is doing this to all Assyrian pages, look it up he is attacking several persons on Wikipedia, look at the article "Michael the Syrian" he has deleted a source because that sourced mentioned Assyrians and he is an anti-Assyrian person! The same with the article "Arameans" he changed the word "were" to "are" which is wrong because its an article about the ancient people not modern, we already have a modern people page, I have not done anything wrong --SuryoyeGBG (talk) 14:02, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You were clearly edit-warring, along with several others. Moreover, while Sr 76 was providing a reasonable argument for his opinion that the quotation in question was falsified, and was pointing to previous discussions where he thought this had been demonstrated, you did not engage him in this discussion in any meaningful and constructive way, responding with a mere "no it is not" [2]. This is unacceptably poor behaviour. This is not to say that Sr 76 was not also at fault; indeed I have blocked him too. Fut.Perf. 14:19, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
He didn't provide any reasonable argument that provide a falsified quotation a source is a source! I understand what you are trying to say but why did he delete the source without any discussion he cant delete sources like this because this will lead to several edit warring by many users! why haven't you restored the source in Michael the Syrian article? can't you see that he is only deleting Assyrian quotation on several articles? --SuryoyeGBG (talk) 14:30, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I checked a few things for myself. You were reinserting this edit, ostensibly including a literal quotation from Michael the Great, sourced to an Assyrian POV website, from there ostensibly sourced to Adai Scher, from there ostensibly sourced to an 19th-century edition, by J.-B. Chabot, of Michael's chronicle. Okay so far.

  1. The website http://www.christiansofiraq.com is dead and has apparently been so for a while, which means you were reinserting the text without checking the source. (Update: it's archived here here though; that text confirms my suspicions expressed below.)
  2. The second-level reference, to Scher, is misspelled (the title of that work is not Hestorie De La Chaldee Et De "Assyrie" (which isn't correct French), but Histoire de la Chaldee et de l'Assyrie). I have not been able to locate an online version of this work, and there is no page number given for it. I think it's pretty safe to assume that you didn't check that source either. In any case, the book appears to be in French (it's original is apparently in Arabic), while the purported quote you inserted is in English. The curious misspelling of Scher's title occurs nowhere else on the web but on Wikipedia and on various partisan Assyrian websites and messageboards containing the same kind of amateur ethnic polemics that you and others have been engaging in here. I think it's safe to assume that you (or those others who previously inserted the alleged quote) were simply copying the whole thing over from one of those websites without checking.
  3. The third-level reference, to the Chabot edition of Michael, is also wrong, as the Chabot edition doesn't even have pages numbered "748" and "750". (It's three volumes, and each volume goes to between 300 and 500 pages or so.) However, a full-text version of the Chabot edition is available on archive.org. In it, there is a passage that appears to be vaguely related to the alleged quote, not in "pages" 748/750, but in "sections" 748/750, which can be found in Vol. III, pp. 442-443 (§748) and pp. 445–446 (§750) respectively [3](large PDF file, may take a while to load.) I have read that text (in French). There are a few snippets that might somehow be related to snippets of the purported quote:
Your purported quotation Chabot text My translation of Chabot text
That even if their name is "Syrian", they are originally "Assyrians" and they have had many honorable kings [...] [nothing in Chabot's text]
Syria is in the west of Euphrates, and its inhabitants who are talking our Aramaic language, and who are so-called "Syrians", are only a part of the "all", while the other part which was in the east of Euphrates, going to Persia, had many kings from Assyria and Babylon and Urhay. [...] [...] [p.445-446] So, one can see that Syria was to the west of the Euphrates, and that the name "Syrians" is applied by way of metaphor to those who speak our language, the Arameans, of which the Syrians are only one part; the others all live east of the Euphrates, that is from the banks of the Euphrates all the way to Persia. And from the banks of the Euphrate towards the East, there have been numerous kings. [...]
Assyrians, who were called "Syrians" by the Greeks, were also the same Assyrians, I mean "Assyrians" from "Assur" who built the city of Nineveh. Josèphe […] appelle Asùr «Assour», en langue grecque : «Assour, de qui proviennent les Assyriens, bâtit Ninive» [p.443] Josephus […] calls Asùr "Assur", in Greek: "Assur, from which derive the Assyrians, built Niniveh".

So you can see, only one portion of your purported quote is vaguely similar to the actual Chabot edition. I don't know what the rest is. Maybe Scher made it up, or (more likely) they are Scher's own words discussing or summarizing Michael's text, and somebody out on those websites messed it up and presented it as if it was meant to be Michael's words. Whatever it is, it is misquoted.

Do you realize this now?

Fut.Perf. 15:55, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

"That even if their name is "Syrian", they are originally "Assyrians" and they have had many honorable kings" this section is not part of the quote I get that its only a summation of the quote but the rest of the quote exist and its not a misquoted in any way, by saying east of euprahtes he applied it to the Assyrian heartland which was in Upper Mesopotamia east of the euphrates, thats why he said "of which the Syrians are only one part; the others all live east of the Euphrates".. "And from the banks of the Euphrate towards the East, there have been numerous kings". This quote also applies to Assyrian kings there were no Aramean kings east of the euprhates only Assyrian and Babylonian. If Syria is used as a Metaphore to mean Aramean, then that means that Syria doesn't always mean Aramean! Their are also other section of Michael's chronicle where he stated that "Assyrians are Syriacs" meaning that modern syriacs have Assyrian background --SuryoyeGBG (talk) 18:23, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The other source about the arameans stated also page 748 J-B Chabot, Chronique de Michel le Syrien Patriarche Jacobite d'Antioche (1166-1199) Tome I-II-III (French) and Tome IV (Syriac), Paris, 1899, p. 748, appendix II --SuryoyeGBG (talk) 18:33, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If you knew that the "...even if their name..." part "is not part of the quote", then why did you present it as part of the quote? Am I to take it that you were deliberately lying to our readers? Fut.Perf. 18:42, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Im lying? I only reverted S 76 he deleted the whole quote and the quote is not misinterpreted at all, we can quote it as original and describe what Michael the Syrian meant by it because its obvious what he meant --SuryoyeGBG (talk) 18:53, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Since you are apparently unable or unwilling to accept the principle of dealing responsible with quotations and sourced content, I am extending your block to indefinite. On Wikipedia, we try to be welcoming to people with all sorts of different backgrounds and talents, but still, a basic amount of WP:competence is required to edit here. In a difficult topic area like this, we cannot afford to permanently have discussions derailed by people who can't be bothered to learn the most basic rules about responsible academic writing. You may apply for an unblock if and when you have learnt those basics. Fut.Perf. 19:02, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Why? I havent done anything? 2 weeks is enough what have I been doing? Sr 76 deleted without discussing the topic. This is the first time I read your quote this was not presented by Sr 76 before --SuryoyeGBG (talk) 19:05, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
