Fair use rationale for Image:Giant Steps boo radleys.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Giant Steps boo radleys.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:43, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:57, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Urge Overkill Saturation.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Urge Overkill Saturation.jpg.

Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Venetian_Snares.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Quadell (talk) (random) 03:57, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

Image:BandofHorses.JPG

I have tagged Image:BandofHorses.JPG as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. MER-C 08:37, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Tim Hardin 2.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Tim Hardin 2.jpg.

Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Hi, I see that you are listed in Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Magazines for having GamePro issue 197, released in February 2005. Do you still have that issue of GamePro? I am trying to verify something that uses that GamePro issue as a reference. --Silver Edge 07:20, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Ben tennyson.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Ben tennyson.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Unspecified source for Image:Alka_Seltzer_in_water.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:Alka_Seltzer_in_water.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 03:20, 8 November 2007 (UTC). Thank you for uploading Image:AltaLake.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Jusjih 03:01, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 14:29, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:2007KCA.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

I think on this picture the position of the grey texts about the scaling should be more obvious: I mean which text goes for which picture. They should be significantly closer to the relevant picture (or you could use arrows, or something similar). I would really appreciate if you could change it.

Orphaned non-free media (Image:OfficialXboxMagazine.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:OfficialXboxMagazine.jpg.

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:07, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Image:Elliptical trajectory on ripples.svg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I8 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is available as a bit-for-bit identical copy on the Wikimedia Commons under the same name, or all references to the image on Wikipedia have been updated to point to the title used at Commons.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:Elliptical trajectory on ripples.svg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hard and soft drugs Venn Diagram Update

Hello Surachit, thanks for your image on the Hard and soft drugs page. This is your image;

http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/File:Hard_and_soft_drugs.svg

This is a great Venn diagram but I would like to see it updated....can you make a new Venn diagram like the one here to replace this current one EXCEPT remove morphine from the hard drugs section and add DMT to the soft drug section. The reason being I want there to be an even 5 on each side of the diagram....and morphine isn't always considered a hard drug especially compared to toxic heroin. Just heroin should be mentioned because it is the more commonly used and abused opioid....where as morphine mainly has the physical addiction problem but generally not the toxicity and body damage effects of the more common heroin. DMT deserves mention in the soft drug section due to its presence in the body and general safety as compared to other psychedelic soft drugs. So please make these changes (remove morphine out of the hard drugs section and put DMT in the soft drug section---5 hard drugs, 3 medium drugs, and 5 soft drugs) as soon as you can. Thank you! :) Zachorious (talk) 22:48, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

Invitation to Meetup/Seattle6, a focus group

Hello. I'm part of a research group at the University of Washington (Seattle campus), and my group is reaching out to Wikipedians in the Puget Sound area. We're hosting a focus group designed to gather information on what Wikipedians would like to know about each other when interacting on Wikipedia. Our end goal is to create an embedded application that helps people quickly know more about others' history and activity on Wikipedia, and we feel our design will be much more useful if it's based on insights of users like you.

I'm hoping that the chance to help out local researchers, to engage in lively face-to-face discussion with other Seattle Wikipedians, and to contribute to Wikipedia in a new way will entice you to join us. The session lasts 2 hours and snacks are provided. Sessions will be held on UW Seattle campus - directions will be sent after registration. Your contribution will be greatly appreciated!

Willing and able to help us out? RSVP here. Want to know more? Visit our user talk page . Please help us contact other local Wikipedians, too! Commprac01 (talk) 01:30, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

Please update your status with WP:VG

Dear WikiProject Video games member,

You are receiving this message because you have either Category:WikiProject Video games members or {{User WPVG}} somewhere in your userspace and you have edited Wikipedia in recent months.

The Video games project has created a member list to provide a clearer picture of its active membership.

All members have currently been placed in the "Inactive" section by default. Please remove your username from the "Inactive" listing and place it under the "Active" listing if you plan on regularly:

Ideally, members are encouraged to do both, but either one meets our criteria of inclusion. Members still listed inactive at the beginning of November 2009 may be removed. You may re-add yourself to the active list at any time. Thank you for your help, and we look forward to working with you.

Back in April 2007, I noted that there was an error on the map you created for Washington gubernatorial election, 2004, in which Island County was incorrectly identified as a "Strong Gregoire" county (Dino Rossi carried the county with 53% of the vote). I left notes on the image talk page and on the main article page, and User:Bobblehead left a note on your user talk page[2], which you archived without comment. The error still exists. Would you please fix it? I am not an image guy; I have no way of correcting .png images. Horologium (talk) 15:00, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Surachit! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 698 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Syntax errors in Printf.svg

It looks like there are two syntax errors in this example of printf:

  • There isn't an opening ' ″ ' (double-quote) for the example string "Color %s, Number %d".
  • The float directive is shown as '%5.2f', but I think it should simply be '%f'.
  • The input integer '1234567' while the integer in output is '123456'

I'm new to c programming, so forgive me if I'm correct. PS, I tried editing the Printf.svg file, so I could introduce this change on Printf's talk page, but I haven't been able to get it right. -- FuturePrefect (talk) 18:49, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and the page that you created has been or soon will be deleted. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. The article Bob Kinsey has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Does not meet WP:POLITICIAN - electoral candidate who has never held office.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Claritas (talk) 14:30, 9 May 2010 (UTC)

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 17:36, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

Non-free rationale for File:Soulseek.PNG

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Soulseek.PNG. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. The article Lacrosse-Washtucna has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable high school sports team; this sharing of athletic teams is not uncommon among rural schools.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Official Xbox Magazine February 2005 - Phantom Dust

Hi! I noticed you have a copy of the February 2005 issue of Official Xbox Magazine. I'm currently writing/expanding the article for the game's designer Yukio Futatsugi and just wondered if the Phantom Dust coverage had any remarks from or information about him? Thanks,

RfC: Should a separate article on the dried flowers and leaves variant of the Cannabis plant be made?

Talk:Cannabis (drug)#RFC: Should the section about the dried whole-flower-and-leaf preparation have its own article? If you have the time, would you please analyse my request, as you interested in our Cannabis project. Do you think there should be a separate section for this topic? მაLiphradicusEpicusთე 21:47, 1 May 2014 (UTC)

Official Xbox Magazine December 2003, Issue 25 - SSX 3

GamePro req

Hey Surachit—do you have GamePro from Nov 1995? I'm looking for the Yoshi's Island article czar  01:16, 2 April 2015 (UTC)

1.0 in GamePro

Hi. Nine years ago you added the following statement to Panic!, referenced from the 200th issue of GamePro: "Panic! was one of only 12 games in GamePro history to earn a score of 1.0 or lower." I think this statement needs a bit more clarification because GamePro didn't give overall scores at the time they reviewed Panic!, and looking over their review for the game I see that it actually got a 1.0 in two different categories, control and funfactor. So was Panic! one of only 12 games to get a 1.0 or lower in any category, or just one of 12 to get a 1.0 or lower in one of those two specific categories?--Martin IIIa (talk) 12:46, 28 May 2015 (UTC)

Okay, thanks.--Martin IIIa (talk) 12:10, 29 May 2015 (UTC)
