IsraPal / PaleSrael  :)

Hi SD. I see you made it your personal cause and crusade :)) to name all things Israeli/Palestinian/Golan-related, by their politically correct name. I can see why this can be somebody's focus in life, and I'm truly not being sarcastic. On the other hand, I don't think WP is the right place, or at least, for the practical sake of WP USERS, please don't remove information which is of definitive usefulness for a tourist/traveller, or student/researcher. (I'm sure that we can agree that the USERS are the only justification for WP to exist!, and not us, the editors, with our more or less holy crusades). I mean, if for instance you remove the new Kishle museum in Jerusalem from the "Israel 2015" list, my friend Khaled the tour guide might loose customers. Rather, be creative, by all means do make your issue visible - and visible for the USER, not just the editors! - but leave the item in there. How? Add a REMARK: "this site is in the occupied part of Jerusalem" etc. And if other editors start a war, be smart, don't just add-remove-add-remove, but for instance create a sub-category (you can use Heading or even ===Heading===) within the page titled "disputed territories". Why should you go for "disputed"? 1) 99.99% of the users don't give a s_ _ _ if it's "occupied" or "disputed", it all means "Palestinian side, different rules"; 2) factually Jordan did hold it for decades until King Hussein handed over representation rights to the PLO, and in real life tourists can now easily come to Jerusalem via Allenby Bridge and the PA. So it's only words anyway. 3) Apart from it all, the police at the site is Israeli, the ticket is paid in shekels, the Jewish-Israeli guide will mainly talk about Herod and the Jewish Underground prisoners, while the Palestinian guide will focus on Mamluks and Ottomans and Arab prisoners of the Brits. That's reality, WP cannot change it like a dog wagged by its tail. All is good, the tourist gets his visit and the dollar rolls for the Palestinian souvenir vendor as much as for the Israeli taxi driver. Or are you against any type of normal life in Jerusalem, Israel and the occupied West Bank? 'Cause then I don't think your editing work will ever end. And it will be quite a solitary struggle, you against all locals and much of the world, except Hamas, Hizb'allah, PFLP and so forth. And those are not too active on English WP, thank Manitou, Zeus and Marduk for that. Even if you find a couple of comrades in other supporters of the "fight to the end for all of historical Palestine", I still don't think it serves anyone who opens WP just to inform themselves. Go with the many who dislike/hate hasbara whitewashing, and you're much more likely to find a large consensus and to "win" even without dying of high blood pressure at age forty-two. Adding, rather than removing USEFUL information to WP should be our goal here, and you sure seem knowledgeable and able to add good insights. All the best, and hope to meet your signature in constructive editing as often as possible.Arminden (talk) 20:17, 15 February 2015 (UTC)Arminden

I see you don't get any of it. I've experienced living under dictatorship and have seen censors, secret policemen feeding on the small patch of power they had over others and getting fat on it, obsessive activists, self-righteous people of every shade, and lots & lots of small dictators working in the shade, so I know who to fear and stay away from. This is the last time you hear from me. Appreciate if mutual.Arminden (talk) 23:46, 15 February 2015 (UTC)Arminden
