Hi there. I'm not quite sure which kind of boxes you mean; do you mean an WP:INFOBOX like the one shown here? If so, see that link; there are lots of infoboxes for different topics. The example here is template:Infobox Person - and if you click that link, you'll see the parameters available.
The best thing to do is copy the code into a user subpage, such as User:Superman2009/boxtest or something - click that redlink, make the page, and try things out. It's not a live area, so you can test stuff there.
Links, in general, are made by putting the name of the page within double square brackets. For example, putting sausage makes a link to the article of that name, like this: sausage. You can also link a series of words to a different article, for example, His hometown displays as His hometown. See WP:LINKING. Links can be used in the parameters of an infobox in just the same way - the above has this, for example;
|birth_place = Alpha Centauri
|occupation = Wikipedian
I hope this helps answer your question. For more help, you can either;
 • Leave a message on my own talk page; OR
 • Use a helpme - please create a new section at the end of your own talk page, put helpme, and ask your question - remember to 'sign' your name by putting ~~~~ at the end; OR
 • Talk to us live, with this or this.

Navbox

Per your note on my talk: the boxes at the bottom are called 'navboxes', so see WP:NAVBOX. They work in a very similar way, but usually do not have parameters, so they are easier. An example would be ;

Welcome and introduction

[edit]

Hi, Superman2009. This is NOT some automated message...it's from a real person. You can talk to me right now. Welcome to Wikipedia! I noticed you've just joined, and wanted to give you a few tips to get you started. If you have any questions, please talk to us. The tips below should help you to get started. Best of luck!  Chzz  ►  09:07, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

ようこそ
 • You don't need to read anything - anybody can edit; just go to an article and edit it. Be Bold, but please don't put silly stuff in - it will be removed very quickly, and will annoy people.
 • Ask for help. Talk to us live, or edit this page, put helpme and describe what help you need. Someone will reply very quickly - usually within a few minutes.
 • Edit existing articles, before you make your own. Look at some subjects that you know about, and see if you can make them a bit better. For example, Wikipedia:Cleanup#2009.
 • When you're ready, read about Your first article. It should be about something well-known, and it will need references.

Good luck with editing; please drop me a line some time on my own talk page.

There's lots of information below. Once again, welcome to the fantastic world of Wikipedia!

Hello. If you contact me on my own talk page, you don't need to use the 'helpme' thing - I'll get the message. If you want to contact any helper, then use the helpme on your own page.
I'll answer here, re. navbox, in a minute or two.  Chzz  ►  09:52, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

a) how do i make my own navbox?

So, making your own navboxes; they can get really complicated, and it is documented in template:navbox - but I'd suggest you start off by copying this and fiddling with it;

...which looks like...

b) isthere an infobox for bands?

Template:Infobox Musical artist

Hope that helps,  Chzz  ►  10:13, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
