Your edits to List of countries by air pollution

[edit]

Hi SuperZecton, last year in 2023 around August you updated the data on the List of countries by air pollution from 2020 to 2022, but you changed the source from UChicago to IQAir, which is a private company. Please don't do that. It's not even about them being a private company, but the UChicago source was good and you know it's reliable, so for consistency purpose keep it instead of delete it. The reason I am bringing this up is because someone has now made a new list for the 2024 UChicago data, and I consider that more reliable than IQAir. Alexysun (talk) 03:33, 16 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Alexysun, I appreciate your attempts to help, however the current list is arguably worse because it's based on the 2020 Readings and not 2024 like you claimed. Furthermore I would argue that a list collating data points from multiple years (2018-2023) is better than data from a single year. IQAir's 2023 World Air Quality Ranking is not an unreliable source, so unless you have any sources to discredit the rankings, I don't see anything wrong with the list. Thanks! No, I appreciate your attempts to help! I did not claim there to be any 2024 data. These is no 2024 data. There is no such thing as a source to discredit a source. It is based on editor consensus. The IQAir rankings are all over the place, one county just disappears from year to year. Lastly, a collage of years is only useful if you specify the year the data is from or else it's confusing! According to the IQAir list, Chad was #1 in 2022 and is now not even listed in the 2023 data. Does that make sense to you? Secondly, because Chad is not even listed anymore I cannot go back and check that it really was #1 in 2022. I would have to go onto InternetArchive and see what the list looked like in 2022. Also in the IQAir list, one country goes from 66.6 to 39.2 in one year. It's as if they are taking data from one source on one day. I doubt the reliability of the IQAir list. Alexysun (talk) 22:07, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
