Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below) and continue editing.
A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.
You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines and create the account yourself. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:
- Adding
{{unblock-un|your new username here}}
on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page. - At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
- Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
- Adding
{{unblock|Your reason here}}
, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:58, 6 December 2013 (UTC)I strongly suggest that you advise any other using NITHM as part of their user name to change it forthwith. You can't use a name that suggests you are editing on behalf of an organisation or company. I've used a limited block that allows a username change, a different admin might not give your colleagues that option. I'll respond to your request shortly. I deleted your article because
- it did not provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines. Although you gave sources, most were just spanm links to the university's courses
- it was written in a promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic. Examples include:
- introductory spamlink to the university. There shouldn't be any url links in the article, only in the "References" or "External links" sections
- Spammy capitalisation of the university.
- it's all about the courses offered, little about the university itself other than its location. Basically just an advertisement. How many students? How many employees? History? Income? Has the university ever received negative publicity? Who are its competitors?
- You have an obvious conflict of interest when it comes to editing articles about this subject. Thank you for declaring your interest. If, after reading the information about notability linked above, you still believe that your organisation is notable enough for a Wikipedia article (and that there is significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources), you could, if you wish, post a request at Wikipedia:Requested articles for the article to be created. See also Wikipedia:Best practices for editors with conflicts of interest.
You can try again, or I could post the text here for you to work on, or in a different sandbox if you change your username Jimfbleak - talk to me? 07:19, 6 December 2013 (UTC)
- I see you have made an unblock request. You only need to do this if you want to keep the handful of edits you have made as part of the history of a new name. I haven't blocked you from just creating a new account, you will just not have your existing edits as part of the new history. Please don't choose a name with NITHM or anything similarly related to the university or your courses. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 07:27, 6 December 2013 (UTC)
Course assignment
[edit]Hi Suneethkrishna.nithm,
It appears as though you are editing Wikipedia as part of a course assignment. If this is the case, we need to contact your course instructor, since there have clearly been some errors made in preparing you for this assignment. Please could you post your instructor's Wikipedia username (not their email address or other contact details) below, so that we can get in touch with them and discuss the issues raised.
You are not in trouble! We simply want to make sure that you and your class are given the support you need to edit Wikipedia in accordance with our site guidelines, and therefore need to talk to your professor to ensure that you get appropriate guidance.
If you are not editing as part of a school or college program, please disregard this message. Yunshui 雲水 08:56, 6 December 2013 (UTC)
