Film characters

[edit]

1 Do not create categories for films based on characters unless the character is a title character in more than 3 of them. 2 Do not add the category to films where the character is not a title character. 3 If you create a category do not leave it without categories in itself, if you do they become a dead end.★Trekker (talk) 16:12, 4 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I understand, it won't happen again.

Overlinking

[edit]

Please read MOS:OVERLINK and do not link "Everyday words understood by most readers in context", "Common occupations", etc. Pinkbeast (talk) 13:51, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I understand now, it won't happen again.

It has; I've just been through to find a bunch more, and someone else below is asking you to stop it. Why are you still doing it? Pinkbeast (talk) 04:32, 9 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

ASU categories

[edit]

Hello. Recently you added "Pac-12 Conference" and "Arizona State Sun Devils" as categories to numerous ASU-related articles. These were redundant and have been reverted. Categories are not intuitive (at first) and of course it's ok to make mistakes. Basically, the various ASU teams get categorized to ASU Sun Devils, and ASU Sun Devils gets categorized to Pac-12 Conference. So there is no need to categorized specific team articles (ex: ASU Sun Devils football) directly to Pac-12 Conference.

You can see how this work by visiting the parent category page at Category:Pac-12 Conference and clicking around. Hope this context helps. UW Dawgs (talk) 03:45, 6 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I understand UW Dawgs, I am still getting the hang of things about Wikipedia, and I just wanted to help expand more for my favorite College Team, the Sun Devils.

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in The Room (film), disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Please read MOS:OVERLINK. Words like "commotion" do not need to be wikilinked. I am sorry that I have been editing to much, I promise I will not edit that much for a while and will take a break from it.

Volume isn't the issue here. It would be more productive to try to make good edits, rather than fewer; to try and understand why your edits have been problematic and not do those things at all, not less often. You seem pretty keen, and there's an ocean of vandalism out there to find and fix (alas); a horde of WikiProjects, like Wikipedia:WikiProject Sports, which have things for an enthusiastic editor to do. 2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( in the enhanced toolbar, or if you use the old "classic" toolbar) located above the edit window.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Mad TV (season 12), you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Lost and The Hills (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Category:Arizona State University alumni

[edit]

Hi, please do not add Category:Arizona State University alumni to articles that are already in Category:Arizona State Sun Devils football players, this is redundant since the alumni category is a parent category to the football player one. Female horror film characters

[edit]

Please stop adding this category to pages that already have Category:Female horror film villains or Category:Final girls. Those are already childcategories and neither of none of categories are non-defusing.★Trekker (talk) 01:19, 5 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I got it ,I will work on making sure not to put the category of Category:Female horror film villains and Category:Final girls in Category:Female horror film characters.

Redundant categories

Please don't add the "Sports journalist" category when the page is already included in subcategories of it, such as "American sports journalist". – Muboshgu (talk) 21:46, 5 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for telling me, I will stop doing that and thank you for the reminder to help me out on not doing that to the Sports journalists category anymore.

Information icon Please do not add original research or novel syntheses of published material to articles. Please cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. You shouldn't add categories that aren't explicitly supported by article prose. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 18:16, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize for that and I will start on not doing that on here anymore, I know that I have been on here for a long time but there are some rules and other things to do on Wikipedia that I am still confused about.

Categorization

[edit]

Hello, Sundevilemily,

It is inappropriate to categorize individuals based on their political views if they are not a politician, political scientist, political writer, commentator or other occupation that features politics. Most people have political opinions and it is not a defining characteristic which is what we use to determine categorization. Liz Read! Talk! 06:01, 22 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I did not know, I am still getting used to what to know what to add to a category or a page or a person as I still am learning at how to make sure that it is not wrong as time goes on that I know what to do. Thank you for reminding me, I will try to remember this to know for the future.

BLP categories

[edit]

Greetings. I noticed that you added categories at Gina Carano that don't seem to represent defining characteristics of the subject according to reliable sources, so I removed them. Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to gender-related disputes or controversies or people associated with them, a topic designated as contentious. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially-designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Information icon You have recently made edits related to articles about living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles.
