Hat-Hor moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Hat-Hor, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Tick Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! Your additions to Ancient Egypt

[edit]

You seem to be pasting text from other Wikipedia articles into the main article on Ancient Egypt. I'm afraid this isn't helpful. For one thing, articles should be of a limited length and should not delve into excessive detail—see the guidelines at Wikipedia:Article size and Wikipedia:Summary style. The brief overview of ancient Egyptian history that the article already contained was sufficient. Second, and most importantly, any text that you did not write must be treated with extreme caution. You can't paste in copyrighted text, and text that is under a shareable license, such as text from other Wikipedia articles, must be attributed in the edit summary when you add it. Please read the policies at Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources and Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. A. Parrot (talk) 00:04, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

(replying to your message on my talk page) I know you meant well, and there are a lot of ways Wikipedia can trip up a newcomer, so I don't blame you. But the policies about pasting text from elsewhere are very firm rules, so I urge you to read them carefully before pasting any more text. This is one of the reasons why it's best to use your own work when making additions to Wikipedia.
Learning the ropes on this site can be difficult, but I wish you success. If you have any more questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask the people at Wikipedia:Teahouse, which is designed to help out newcomers. Reading these pages is also helpful:
If you have any specific questions related to ancient Egypt, see Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Ancient Egypt. The handful of people who concentrate on ancient Egypt articles, including me, all watch that page. A. Parrot (talk) 02:45, 6 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited History of ancient Egypt, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Cyrene, Amasis and Den (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution

[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from one or more pages into List of Egyptian inventions and discoveries. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was copied, attribution is not required. — Diannaa (talk) 21:14, 18 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve List of Egyptian inventions and discoveries

[edit]

Hello, Strik3,

Thank you for creating List of Egyptian inventions and discoveries.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

It would be helpful if a lead section were written for this to describe the purpose of this page and help the reader know how to use it.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|FULBERT}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions at List of Egyptian inventions and discoveries. Although this may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is known as "edit warring" and is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, as it often creates animosity between editors. Instead of reverting, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to lose their editing privileges on that page. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to result in loss of your editing privileges. Thank you.
