Volvo Trucks

Hola again! I removed the "Disputed-section" tag that you placed in Volvo Trucks. But, I also removed the stupid statement added by 166.114.87.194 (talk · contribs). Not only was it POV it was also poorly written and could have been removed for either reason. ~ WikiDon (talk) 03:06, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

Splitting out Tatra Trucks

Just so you know, I did notice before the suggestion for splitting the Tatra car entry and the Tatra truck entry. But I didn't react because I had no clear opinion.

Now you trigger my attention by removing the flag, I think what I think is that someone first needs to enter a couple of paras on Tatra trucks and THEN suggest the split. Right now apart from a list I see very little information on Tatra trucks in English wiki. There is a bit more in German wiki, but it's not very structured even there, and would need quite a lot of organising in order to give a useful couple of paras for the English Tatra trucks entry - whether a sub section under Tatra or as a separate section under Tatra Commerial Vehicles (or whatever).

I recently was helping with translating an entry on a Brazilian car maker that assembled Alfa Romeos and was looking for stuff on Alfa Romeo trucks and Fiat trucks. There's not a lot, even in Italian wiki as far as I can make out, on either. It's a pity. With obscure European makes of car, usually if you cannot find much in English wiki, the entry in another west European language will tell you more more. And if it's not a language you master, a basic translation using google translate or another online program can often be enough to produce something usable if you know enough about the subject to avoid obvious nonsense resulting from the shortcomings of the translation program.

Anyhow, if one cannot get info on the European truck businesses by translating from another wiki language, one is thrown back on the need to try and find people with enough expertise and / or enthusiasm to have their access to wiki-suitable sources. If, for Tatra trucks, that's you, please be encouraged to take a weekend to put together a few paras if your day job permits it. Please. Regards Charles01 (talk) 16:40, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

Tatra trucks "I've added extra info about Tatra trucks history..."

What do I think? I think you've been doing a lot of work and thank you. I may think up more when I read it more carefully, but I'm not much of an expert on trucks and I may, therefore, not. But either way, I appreciate the chance to learn more. We seem to be in danger of reaching the stage where the English language Wikipedia actually has more detail, more carefully and logically set out on the Tatras (which as far as I know have never been sold in significant numbers in England), than it has on several important ranges of twentieth century English built trucks. Well, that's a judgement that could be argued either way, but if you have relevant expertise / sources...?

My only other thought was that it might make sense to have a separate entry for Tatra automobiles and for Tatra trucks, each one linking in to a relatively short entry concentrating on the commercial and political history of the business. I think that at the moment I would vote against such an idea. But if the entry continues to build, it might become an idea worth considering... Regards Charles01 (talk) 15:16, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
